Your fellow gamers
Do you ever wonder who the other people are that you play games with in an online multiplayer? I guess when you´re focused you probably don´t care too much about it, you might even mute everyone so you can fully concentrate on the game. I guess I do that as well, because the moment I start thinking that I´m playing against other people and how lame it is that I shot someone in the back then I feel kind of bad and that messes with my performance. So I try not to think too much of them, I don´t think that´s really the idea of gaming that you play with others so you all become great friends. Sure it can happen but I seriously doubt you´re going to get along with everyone.
Ranting at others, do or don´t? I think when you play a single player game or a match against bots then you´re more likely to get upset when you lose or when something goes wrong. But then you play against other people, they do something you don´t like and what do you do? Do you stay calm, do you ignore it, do you insult them or do you want to get revenge? I think the camper in every match is the most hated person. So far I´ve seen people running towards the same guy several times, and dying trying to kill him, just trying to kick him or her out of his or her camp spot. But what´s the point? The camper will just camp at another spot or just wait until you leave his or her old spot so he or she can sit there once more. I don´t always think of them as people, more often I think of them as rats hiding in a little hole. Do you yell at a rat for being a rat? Nope, you just ignore the creature unless you wish to exeterminate it. But then you must come well prepared, running in like a madman won´t get you the job done. Still it´s not a suprise that you get upset, you´re trying to have fun and some loser is ruining it for you. I guess you can leave, but why should you leave? This loser is the one that should leave, so you stay in the match and make his or her life as much as a hell for them as long as you need to. But what does that say about you? As much as a rat a camper is, he or she is still a person. A spineless person that is a complete waste of time, but yet he or she is still a person. Does he or she deserve to be treated like that? At the moment I´d say yes, when your annoyance is high and you´ve had more than enough of that bullshit. But let´s not forget that you can be the bigger man (or woman for anyone feeling that it needs to be said), and ignore some sad loser, just move on to the next match.
A certain type of game will attract a certain type of people, when you die quickly in a game then don´t expect people to be brave. So yelling at someone being a coward might make you feel better but it really is just a waste of time. These people know what they are, sure they talk about being MLG or whatever the fuck they think they are. But let´s not forget that they often camp on the lowest difficulty of multiplayer because they´re so good, so why waste time on someone like that? Isn´t it easier to just ignore everyone and think of them as bots that behave weird? Someone is jumping to evade your shots, someone dropshots every time you encounter him or her and this person constantly sneaks behind you to knife you in the back. Is this annoying? Yes, is it worth getting mad? Nope, these people pray for you to get mad and the worst thing you can do is deny him or her that. Ignore everything, sure you can shoot the living hell out of their corpse if it makes you feel better or just do a nice teabag (especially when it´s in a final kill cam for example in Halo 4. Don´t get mad, get even!
It´s really your choice how you choose to act in a game, how you´ll repsond to others and if you want to keep playing with people who annoy you. You´ll meet a lot of people online, it might suprise you but most of them aren´t your friend and I seriously doubt most of them want to be your friend. So you can be nice, you can try to help or you can just do what motivated you in the first place to start up your console or computer. You just play games, fuck the rest if you don´t want to talk with others or be bothered with others. Nobody can force you to reply or to do something you don´t want to. The best thing is that you can choose what you want to do, so if a certain game is full of people that annoy you then it´s probably a good idea to try something else every now and then. Why let yourself go crazy over the same shit every day? Do you feel you need to get back at someone? Do you want to vent your frustration? Remember that you´re playing against other people, as much as you might hate some of them they´re still people. I don´t think you would like to be treated as a piece of shit by others, so why do it to others? You don´t have to like everyone, but at least try to keep it civilized!
