I´m in the game!

Whenever I can customize my character I somehow always try to make it look a bit like me, of course a much better looking guy than me! I mean who wants to look at my mug all the time? Anyway it´s cool when you can put yourself in a game, this virtual you can do things that you probably can´t do or at least not do without consequences. Some people even go so far to make it a very close match to their own appearance, up to the part where the virtual character wears the same outfit the player is wearing. I usually don´t take it that far, eventhough it´s funny when you see yourself in the game exactly as you are on the couch. But with the style of clothes I usually pick something different, I prefer to wear black clothes but I don´t mind wearing something else.

What is a good game to put yourself in? Well maybe some of your hate this game but the Sims is really a fun game to put yourself in. I would like to mention that it´s actually the Sims 3 that gives you the most options to make a good version of yourself in the game. It´s funny to see yourself walk around like a vampire, werewolf or even a zombie. I remember the first time my character had a little accident and water was dripping on the ground below him that I couldn´t stop laughing. I mean to see this grown man like this was hilarious, especially since he looked like me. But if you like to be more bad ass, then you can also play Saints Row games. You get a lot of options when creating your character so it´s possible to make him or her look a lot like you. In a way this is even more fun, to see yourself in the game and destroying a city or doing other hilarious things. It´s like you let a wild fantasy or crazy dream become real!

I have to admit that sometimes I do have strange dreams because of games I played, I can´t really say if it has anything to do with putting a character in the game that looks a lot like me or that I just have weird dreams. It´s just fun to put yourself in a game, in a way I think it´s a bit as if you´re reading a book and put yourself in the leading role. But instead of using your imagination, now you can actually do it in the game! It actually started so simple for me with just naming the main character after me, which I did in the NES game Battle for Olympus. The legend of Zelda games usually also give you the option to give Link another name, of course I couldn´t help myself and do that! But now we can make characters that look like us, act like us and possibly even sound like us. Well maybe that´s something for the future? But in GTA Online your character will move his or her lips when you speak through your microphone, so maybe that´s the start for something new? I know we´re probably far from the old movies where people got sucked into a game, but maybe something like that will be possible in the future? It seems impossible but then again if you told me twenty years ago that I could make a character that looked like me in a game I probably wouldn´t believe that either!
