When you want to see the world burn

I think we all have moments in our life that we´re just pissed off or pushed to a limit that you just want to reign destruction on others. Of course I would never encourage that in real life, but in a game that might be a good way to deal with frustrations and stress. The first game I played where I could destroy a lot of things was Rampage World Tour on the N64, you could play as one of three giant monsters and then you had to destroy buildings and eat people. Of course compared to games you can play today it´s nothing special but in those days it was a good way to deal with some frustrations, because sometimes it´s just a bit too much. For example school sucks and your job doesn´t seem to interest you anymore, then you have people in your life that bring you down and so it´s good to have a place where you can just blow off some steam.

These days you have games like Saints Row IV and GTA V, both games where you can go on a killing spree or just destroy everything in your path. But in GTA V it´s a lot more difficult to stay alive, because the police in that game is brutal and you can´t take much damage. That´s why I would definately recommend Saints Row the Third or Saints Row IV to anyone who needs to blow off some steam, because if you do that in another game like CoD Black Ops 2 or Battlefield 3 then you´re not making a lot of friends! Besides why bring your problems to other people if you can easily deal with that by yourself in a game that´s exactly made for having fun. Not that I´m saying that CoD and Battlefield aren´t fun, but playing against other people and not being so succesful doesn´t really make you happy most of the time.

So playing violent games is good? I´ve mentioned some weeks ago that a violent game doesn´t make you a violent person, having a violent nature makes someone a violent person! This isn´t something that is caused by a game, but continuously failing in a game can bring out a less pleasant side of you. So instead of going berserk on another player it´s probably a better idea to find a game where you can just destroy things and let your rage calm down until things are back to normal. Some people might say that you should stop completely with games, but I think we all get mad sometimes and it´s just part of being human. Some people do take games a bit too serious, so it´s not that games are always the solution to everything. Taking a break every now and then does seem like a good idea as well, but when you look at GTA Online then I can understand that you´re not that eager to leave a session when it took you so long to get in the session. Just remember that there are other things as deathmatch and races, personally I love to play golf in the game and it´s quite relaxing. Ok I might get a bit upset if the golf ball just misses the hole, but once again that´s human nature at work!
