Batman Arkham Origins

Being a fan of Batman Arkham Asylum and Batman Arkham City I couldn´t let this game go by unnoticed, especially since I had so much fun with the previous games. But some people are worried, it´s not the same developer and can this game really make a difference after two great games? I haven´t finished the game so my answer isn´t based on that, but from what  I´ve seen so far I can´t say that it´s a bad game. Better said, this game is good! It feels like the other games but this one seems to be a bit different, Batman is not that experienced and you´ll see him make some mistakes. For example during an interrogation the guy he´s interrogating passes out, Batman then realizes that he made a mistake in his method. Is this annoying? Well I don´t think so, it´s actually interesting to see that Batman is indeed just a man and he also makes mistakes. But don´t worry if you think that you´re playing with a fool, he´s still an experienced fighter and sneaking is still as good as you expect it to be.

So what´s new? Well Batman has a slightly different look, his unshaven look might seem strange to you but it kind of gives you this raw feeling to his character. The crime scene investigation is interesting, you can actually replay what happened there and view that in 3D! So you´re walking through the crime scene and you can replay what happened there, so you can determine what happened and to find a certain object. This looks awesome and it´s really a lot of fun for the detectives among us! You also get some new gadgets, some you get by defeating a boss (which is usually one of the assassins hunting you) and others you get further in the game. For the collectible fans there is also something new, instead of Riddler trophies you now have data packages to collect. It´s the same idea though when you´re looking for them. First you take out a disrupting signal in a tower, that allows you to fast travel to that area, and then you can interrogate people who know where the data packages are hidden. For some of these you´ll need to have certain gadgets, so you might want to collect them a bit further in the game. Now you also have challenges, this helps you unlock new skills and gadgets. Most of them aren´t that difficult and you´ll often get them by just doing what you do to survive. But some of them will put your skills to the test! I haven´t played multiplayer but from what I´ve seen so far it´s some people playing as a member of one of the gangs and two other people playing as Batman and Robin. It´s a nice extra but if that´s not your thing then you can easily leave it be. You´ll also meet some new faces and of course some old ones, so I don´t think you have to worry that it´s more of the same stuff. Sure you´ll see familiar things, but why change something good?

Is it worth buying this game? I´d say if you enjoyed the two previous games then you´ll enjoy this game as well. If you´re new to these Batman games then this is a good game to get familiar with it, because you´ll get enough hints and it´s not that difficult to figure things out. You have a a lot of ground to cover and you can travel quickly around, which saves some long gliding. If you´re not that good then don´t worry, the game will put you at the closest checkpoint whenever things go wrong. The autosave is also pretty good, so don´t worry to lose in a fight on the streets and having to collect those collectibles again. It´s fun to play as Batman, he´s by far one of my favourite heroes in the world of heroes. So seeing him in a game that does him justice just feels good. As a fan of Batman I can really recommend you this game, it´s fun and you´ll love playing as him in this game. You can stand your ground in a fight and once you get really familiar with it then hardly anyone can stop you. But don´t think it´s all that easy, the boss fights will test your skills to the limit. Deathstroke is a good example for that, if you think you can beat him by just mashing on buttons then you´re mistaken! This game is fun for the experienced fighter but has a friendly opening for new players, so don´t think you have to play the other games to play this one!
