GTA Online frustrations!!!
To be honest with you I really wanted to tell you about my game experiences in GTA Online, to tell you how cool it is and the fun things I did. But unfortunately it was impossible for me to get in the game so I don´t have much to tell you. I think I spend most of my Tuesday on trying to get in GTA Online, but failed every time. I even went so far to accept the no save version, which meant that everything I did wouldn´t be saved but so I could at least have some experience with GTA Online so I could talk about it. Well guess what? It still didn´t work!!! No matter what I did, no matter what I said or tried it just didn´t work! I tried to play the quick play option, the one with crews, the one with invite only, the only with friends only and even the one where it´s just you. Somehow nothing works and nothing gets me in the game.
The worst part is when you see your friends playing GTA Online, at least they got past the introduction, and that really makes me even more frustrated. I mean I´m happy for them but it sucks that I tried from early in the afternoon till deep in the night to go online and nothing works. But here comes someone else who just loads the game and gets in, I don´t think I need to explain how frustrating that is! But later I learned from them that they got stuck in the first race, something I discovered this morning, so in the loading screen when the game is looking for players you´re in a never ending loading screen. I learned that when I was waiting for an hour this morning. Yes somehow the gaming gods smiled on me, just briefly, this morning and I got in. After the intro cinematic you see your character walking towards a car and you have to wait for other people, but that´s where you get a loading screen that never ends. But when I look in my friendslist and check to see if I´ve actually met other people, I can see over 50 people have joined the session in the last 5 minutes! Somehow the game does put people in the race but it never starts, which is once again another way GTA Online says screw you to gamers!
Something I probably regret the most is that I tried to go into a friends only session, just so I could play without having to wait on other people. Somehow the game did load and I was in the game controlling my character. But I did get the message that I couldn´t save my character and the progress I´d make with him. That sucked but at least I could play, but then 10 seconds later I get the message that I can save but I have to rejoin the session. Of course I want that! So when I do that, I discover that it fails and I got thrown back into single player, once again GTA Online has screwed me!!! That´s the closest I´ve gotten after trying to join for many times! I think that moment when you´re thrown back into single player is the most frustrating, because that goes ten times faster than waiting for your GTA Online game to load.
Is Rockstar to blame? Well as much as I dislike them for this, I don´t think it´s really their fault that their game became so popular. Sure they could´ve realized that when they got so many pre-orders and on the 17th of September when so many people bought the game, they could´ve and probably should´ve realized that GTA Online will be flooded with gamers. They didn´t anticipate this good enough, meaning that a lot of people are outside the GTA Online experience and probably will stay there for several days. It sucks, there is no denying that but really I doubt you get any further by ranting against Rockstar. But I have to say that Rockstar support isn´t really the most satisfying customer service I´ve encountered, because it´s usually the we´re looking into it answer or the maybe it has something to do with your connection answer. I´ve never heard them say, well we fucked up and we´re doing our best to fix it. It´s kind of insulting to assume that the blame must be on the side of the gamer, while it´s quite clear that when hundreds if not thousands of people seem to have an issue that the problem might be on their side. The best thing I can advice you, if you have problems getting in GTA Online, is to be patient. Sounds lame and I know that it is, but there is nothing more that you can do and keep trying to get in GTA Online and fail will only make you feel more annoyed. Just try to get some more single player achievements or do something else. I´m certain that they´ll fix it sooner or later, just remember that these things sometimes take time and you shouting at them won´t make it go faster.
