Point and click games

To my suprise these games are a lot more popular then I thought, at first I wasn´t really interested in these games until I played Broken Sword. I don´t know if it´s the characters or the story but somehow that game was just fun to play, yes even the part with the goat in Ireland. Still it didn´t really made me play more of these games, because I prefer to shoot instead of trying to find a way around it. The popular game Myst is a mystery to me, some people love the game but unfortunately I have no idea what it is about. I guess we all have our own genre we like to play and I´ll have to be honest and say that point and click games aren´t really my type of games. But things change...

Yesterday I played the game the wolf among us, it´s from the same makers as the walking dead game. The game is also in the same art style as the walking dead game, but this one looks a bit different. Like a strange version of Sin City, instead of people you now have Fables (creatures from myths and legends). You play Bigby Wolf and you´re the Sheriff, it´s your job to keep the peace and that often means you have to get violent. But you have options in your dialogue, you can choose to approach people friendly or not so friendly. Of course the other character will act accordingly to your choices, so some will remember you not being so nice and others will remember you being nice. So every choice you make will have influence to the story, giving players a unique experience in the game.

Maybe I like this game a lot because it´s not a traditional point and click game, you also have fight scenes and you´ll have to press the right buttons at the right time. But as time changes so do games, perhaps this is the only way point and click games can survive among the big titles. I´m certain that a lot of fans of the point and click genre will always love playing the classic version, but how do you stop progress? I like my Xbox 360 just the way it is and yet Microsoft insists I take a Kinect and use it, sure they´ll say it´s optional but I still have to pay for it when I buy a Xbox One. But I understand people who aren´t so happy about changes in a genre they like for how it is as they remember it. I feel the same way about certain games. I still hope you enjoy playing point and click games as they are now, I can definately recommend you playing the wolf among us. Maybe the controls and the looks of games change, but I still think that games are meant to be fun and hopefully that will never change!
