Friend or foe?
When you encounter someone in the online world of gaming you often have to wonder if they´re going to be friendly or not so friendly. In GTA Online a player that is rushing towards you on the map doesn´t always have good intentions, but at the same time it could just be someone who is trying to shake off the cops. It´s understandable that you don´t want to be cought with your pants down but to shoot people on sight might be a bit extreme or is it?
The enemy that you know is an enemy you can shoot? If you recognize a gamertag of a player that has been killing a lot of other people, which you can see on the screen whenever they kill someone, then it´s not a bad idea to be quick on the draw. But at the same time it could be a player that was just defending himself or herself against others, it´s difficult to judge when you don´t know someone. Of course you can warn them to back off with your mic, but if he or she isn´t plugged in it might be difficult for him or her to hear you. So what do you do? I´d say if people come to you and I really do mean straight at you then you can assume that they want something from you. It doesn´t even have to mean that they want to harm you, some just prefer company or have other reasons to hang around other people. It´s really up to you to decide what you do, just be careful with what you do because you don´t want to make an enemy out of someone that had no hostility towards you! But when you play with friends then it´s often easier to figure out what they´re up to, of course everyone can shoot you in the back and that includes your friends.
How do I survive alone in an online world where everyone wants to shoot me? I´d say practice makes perfect, but also leveling up and get better gear. Make people work hard to bring you down, make it so difficult for them that they´ll think twice before they´ll attack you. When they think you´re an easy target they´ll keep coming, but when they die several times the fun they thought they would have is not worth getting that one kill on you. Still you have some die hards that won´t leave you alone, for that I´d say just block and ignore. If that person is really making it his or her goal to annoy you then you can always report him or her. I think I´ve said it a hundred times but I´ll say it again, gaming is meant to be fun and not at the expense of another!
Of course everyone can make a mistake, so as long as you apologize to someone for accidently killing them then they shouldn´t hold a grudge. Well some might want to kill you too, which seems fair but that would be a kill that they make on purpose while you did it by accident. It really shows you´re mature if you let it go, because I don´t think every team kill or other type of kill in the online world is always deliberately! But if that happens a couple of times then no matter what the other says, you might consider that as an act of hostility against you. It´s really up to you how you want to deal with that, of course getting revenge is desirable but blood always calls for more blood. So maybe it´s not what you´re interested in, especially not when you´re just trying to have fun with the game and you don´t feel like checking your back every 5 seconds. Playing with strangers can be fun, it can be exciting and it can also be quite annoying. It really depends on the people you´re playing with, I do believe that everyone starts out with just trying to have fun though. But fun for one person might mean misery for another, it would be smart to remember that! Also you might want to handle the shoot first ask questions later policy if you feel threatened, because I think it´s better to be safe than sorry!
