Playing games all day, every day!
As a kid this was something I could see myself doing and for some time it was exactly what I was doing. But you really have to wonder, is this a smart way of spending your time? Playing games is fun, I think everyone that plays games can agree with that. Ok some games are less fun but most games are usually entertaining. It´s tempting to stay at home and not go to school or to your work just to play games. Of course this will probably not have positive effect on your grades and your boss might not want to keep you in the company for much longer. So giving games a place in your life seems like a smart idea, but what if you´re addicted to games? Then it´s even more important to slow it down, leave your console or pc off for a day or two and then play some games again. As much fun games might be, don´t let it ruin your future.
Can I have a job that allows me to play games? I think when you look on youtube you´ll find several places where people have a job that involves playing games. But the trick is to get a job there and that it actually means that you play games, because you could work at a company where people play games but that doesn´t mean you´re going to be one of the people in the spotlight. It´s tempting when you see the youtube heroes, with millions of views you secretly wish that it was you. But to be honest it´s difficult to get there, because a lot of people upload videos and not all of them are that interesting. So it´s not easy to find a way up when you´re an unknown person on youtube. Still it´s always worth to try, because then you can at least say that you did try and as long as you´re having fun making videos then I don´t see a reason why you should stop. It might seem unfair but not many people make it into the big leagues, which will often mean that you´ll have to do something else with your life. So spending time on school or actually showing up on your job might seem like a good idea!
Personally I like playing games, but I do realize that they also made my life a bit different. As a teenager I lost contact with a lot of friends, because I was playing games while they went out. It´s great if you have friends that play games with you but sometimes you´ll end up playing games alone. Now this doesn´t have to be a problem, but it´s a shame if you lost contact with people just because you play games and they don´t. As much fun as games can be they´re not exactly a friend with whom you can talk or someone you can go out with and spend a great time doing silly things. But the upside of games is that they don´t betray you or lie to you. I guess you can see something good or bad in almost anything. What I´m trying to say is that games are fun, but don´t let it become the dominant factor in your life. Have fun and go out, games will always be there so it´s not a problem if you spend a weekend with friends instead on the couch playing games.
