My teammates suck!

Have you ever played in an online multiplayer match where you were a part of a team and the rest of the team just sucked? I don´t mean that they were unfamiliar with the game, but they just didn´t work together as a team and constantly got themselves killed by members on the other team. It doesn´t matter how good you are at a game, when your team sucks then it´s most likely that you´re going to suck too! Especially when it´s about working together, because when the other team does communicate and work together then you´re going to fail in a team where this isn´t happening. I´ve lost several matches because members in my team would just all camp at their spawn point and then get crushed by a group of 3 to 4 players that work together to defeat other players. Instead of learning from this and working together with his or her teammates, they constantly go back to their failing tactic and get defeated once more. When someone doesn´t learn from his or her mistakes, then you´re not really valuable in a team. Don´t be afraid to try something new and by all means stick together when the other team is doing that as well. Because no matter how good you are, it might be difficult to defeat a group of people all by yourself.

Of course there are people confident enough to think they can do it, well there might actually be people who have the skills for that, but this is a small group and I think it´s safe to say that most of us aren´t a part of that group of elite gamers. When you play team deathmatch then I certainly hope you play it because you want to play in a team and not because you get more people to shoot at! Being a lone wolf is fun, I´ve done it multiple times and I can definately see why you´d prefer that. But when the other team defeats you every time, then maybe it´s time for a different tactic! Sometimes you see these videos on youtube where one guy defeats a lot of other guys in a row without dying, but what you might not realize that these videos aren´t from some random match. Often this guy or girl has played hundreds of matches until he or she finally got a good one worth putting online. This me against the rest thing doesn´t really hold up in team deathmatch, especially when the other team is working together.

How do you become a good team member? I guess that depends on what type of game you play but being supportive usually gets you a valuable place in most teams. So being a healer or other type of support class will definately be appreciated. Also being friendly and social makes communication a bit less awkward, even if it´s with people you know nothing about. Of course not everyone will be interested in talking with you, but I´d say that´s their loss and not yours. Stealing someone elses kills is not very nice, so it would be appreciated if you don´t do that. Of course you might want to help someone out in a firefight and if you do happen to get the kill for that then depending on what the other says you could always say sorry. But if someone is really in trouble then I seriously doubt that they care that much, I´d say that they would be more grateful then angry. If you spot a sniper or someone with a power weapon, then you can always mention that to your teammates. It might not seem that important but you could actually save someone because you shared that information.

I know that with so many people online that it´s sometimes difficult to find some friendly people out there, especially when you´ve been through some nasty experiences in certain teams. Just remember that not everyone is an asshole online, even if 70% is then there is always 30% that isn´t. I like to believe that most gamers play games because they want to have fun, unfortunately fun isn´t always the same for everyone. So just block and ignore those that annoy you and communicate with people that seem friendly and helpful. It´s probably best to just play with friends, they usually make the best teammates because you have fun together. Winning might be important to you, but having fun is probably just as important to you. So try to have fun and make some friends, who knows they might be an excellent member on your team!
