Ghost Recon Wildlands, what did the open beta reveal?
I love open world games, to be able to go where I want to go and pretty much do whatever I feel like doing. This is what Ghost Recon Wildlands is most of the time, it gives you a lot to do and you can decide how you want to do it. That sounds amazing to me and after playing the game in the open beta I also have faith that this game will be amazing!
Ghost Recon Wildlands is GTA V with tactics?
Eh not really, maybe you can see some similarities but honestly it's not the same. Sure you can steal cars or other vehicles and do a lot of side missions but the one thing that these two games would connect would be that they're both open world games. I think Ghost Recon Wildlands is more like the game Mercenaries (on the Xbox) and Mercenaries 2 (on the Xbox 360). Except Ghost Recon Wildlands looks better and is a bit less ridiculous than the Mercenaries games.
Be your own man or woman?
Before you start you can create your own character, not only does this create a unique character in the game but also makes it more fun when playing with friends, this way you can hopefully see more differences between you and other players. While playing the game you can unlock more stuff for your character but so far you already have quite a lot of customization options, I just hope it will be a lot more! Even if your character might look similar as another character you can still have a completely different set of skills. By leveling up you get skill points you can put to use in the skill tree and unlock new abilities or just make your character stronger (for example you can take more damage before you go down, you can run longer or you can revive allies faster). You can do whatever you want and make the type of character that works best for you.
So much freedom?
Even in the open beta you got a lot of freedom, I mean I could pretty much walk for hours through the unlocked provinces and just go on my own adventure. Side missions would pop up and you can do that if you feel like it or go collecting skill points or bonus medals that will earn you bonus stats and unlock new skills. You can also get a lot of resources in the game that you also need to unlock skills. Once you have unlocked the parachute you can fly in a helicopter to a certain hight and just jump out and enjoy the view while gliding down. This is also a pretty good tactic if you want to get a surprise attack on an enemy base. Missions can be completed on more than one way, it's not like you need to be stealthy but it often does make things easier. But if you prefer to go in loud then you can do that as well, just keep in mind that you get more enemies to deal with!
Ghost Recon Wildlands is worth checking out?
Absolutely! I had an absolute blast playing the game and did some silly and incredible things. Like lauching myself off a mountain on a bike and then gliding down with a parachute. Charging into battle in a truck and destroy an enemy outpost. Then there were moments I would go super stealthy and take out enemies one by one around a church. But I also enjoyed being the sniper and drop enemies one by one without them noticing what was going on. There are so many ways to play the game and even if you don't like playing with other people you can play the entire game on your own with bots. Those bots aren't always that useful but you probably want to do most of the killing yourself anyway. The game looks pretty amazing and it was a lot of fun to play in the open beta, I can't wait to play the full game and spend a lot of hours doing whatever I feel like in this open world game!
