Prey, don't underestimate this game!
When I first heard of Prey I wasn't excited for the game, I saw just a couple of screenshots and it didn't amaze me. But the more I see and the more I hear about this game the more interested I become, it's the type of game that might appear out of nowhere but once you've discovered it you're probably interested in playing it!
What is Prey?
Prey is a sci-fi horror first person shooter. What does that mean? It means you can shoot things but half of the time things might also freak you the fuck out. You could see this game a bit like a mix between Bioshock and Dead Space, but instead of reanimated corpses you deal with some type of shadow monsters that are called mimics. You play as Morgan Yu and your character can be a male or a female. That is entirely up to you and as far as I know Morgan doesn't speak so it doesn't really make that much of a difference. What does stay the same is your brother Alex that works in a weird testing facility and you are one of the people that does some of these tests. During a test things go wrong and weird shadow creatures attack, this is where the game really begins and you have to escape but of course that won't be that simple!
Shadow creatures?
Well that's what I'm calling them, they're called mimics and as the name implies they can mimic other objects. That means that the teacup on the desk can be just a teacup or a mimic in disguise and attack you when you're not expecting it. Not only does this create a constant threat but also makes you completely paranoid of everything around you. So you'll probably smash everything in a room just to be certain. There are also bigger version that look really creepy and it will prove a more difficult task to defeat them. This is exactly where the horror element steps in, the sounds and shadows moving in the distance. Was it a mimic or are you just seeing things? I think this creates a very unique and creepy adventure for all the survival horror lovers but also people who just love first person shooters will probably have a great time with this game.
So this game is going to be good?
That remains to be seen, I don't like judging games I haven't played but things are definitely looking good and I have a positive feeling when I see this game. That usually means for me personally that the game is going to be something I like. If you're not sold then I suggest you check out trailers and some gameplay to get a better idea of this game, it's really worth checking out and the game already comes out in May if I'm not mistaken so you might want to do some research before you commit to buying it. I think the game looks pretty good and I can't wait to try it out!
