Movie Monday: Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children
Do you like Tim Burton movies? Well I don't know about you but I like these type of odd but fun movies. Wether it's Batman and Batman Returns, Sleepy Hollow or Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children I think they're all fun to watch. But how good is Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children? Well let's find out!
This is another weird movie?
Eh...yes, but before you think this movie is a waste of time I would like to add that it's a good movie! Sure you might need to a have a bit of an interest for weird and unusual things but if you can handle and accept that then the movie should be quite enjoyable. In the movie you follow Jacob Portman when after a strange encounter and the death of his grandfather he decides to look for a certain Miss Peregrine that is mentioned in the old stories of his grandfather. At first he doesn't believe she and the children from the stories actually exist but he meets them on an island. There he finds out that these kids have weird abilities and that there are monsters that hunt them. So it's up to him to protect him, but at the same time he has his father with him on the island so he is kind of balancing between two worlds. To make things even weirder, Miss Peregrine and the children live in a time loop that is in 1943, yeah that makes things absolutely a lot weirder!
What makes this movie good?
From my experience it's the adventure that I really like, discovering new things and finding out about the powers of the kids. The movie might be a bit disturbing for young kids but I think that teenagers and adults will like this movie. Eventhough not everyone will probably like the part where the monsters eat eyeballs. I do like the setting in the movie, the characters are a bit weird and sometimes even silly. Just keep in mind that this isn't your typical kid movie, so bringing in young kids to see this movie is a mistake! You could see this movie as some type of super hero movie, except it's a bit weirder and the heroes are kids. Maybe not everyone likes this movie but I do, it has some interesting scenes for example when Jacob and Emma go underwater and she shows him her secret hideout in a sunken ship. I can really recommend this movie if you like something weird and at the same time a bit disturbing, but it's still fun to watch!
