YouTube adventures part -47- You want YouTubers to suffer?
I often recognize three types of people that watch YouTube videos. The first group of people like to watch succesful videos, they want the YouTuber to succeed with getting an achievement or trophy and winning matches. Then there are people that like humour and love watching silly videos or people having fun with their friends while playing a game. But there are also people that like it when YouTubers fail, when they get upset and when things go horribly wrong. So my question to you is...
Do you want YouTubers to suffer?
I know it sounds a bit disturbed but with suffering I mean that they get mad or just annoyed with what's going on in the video. For example someone who can't beat a boss, can't beat a certain level or someone who keeps getting defeated in multiplayer. Some people don't want to see this, but there are people that love to see this. I have to admit that it can be funny to see some rage videos, maybe because I sometimes have my rage moments as well so I know what they're going through but at the same time it's kind of funny to see someone lose their shit over a game. Unless it's you, then it might only be funny if you watch the video again after a couple of weeks and you can laugh at that.
It's easy to just show the good moments but I prefer to show it all, the good moments, the bad moments and the silly moments. Unfortunately I don't get to record everything but I do want to give people more than just the I win every match I play type of videos. I've had amazing videos where I did some cool things when I lost or where things didn't go so well. It's hilarious sometimes and it would be a shame not to post that video just because you lost or because things didn't go the way you were hoping they would go.
But it's important, at least to me, to keep things honest. Don't fake fails or try to make things look like you play a game for the first time while it's your second or third time already. I know it's tempting but people like things to be honest and it's lame when you watch a video of someone that is almost reading a script of some sort. If you fail then fail, if you want to succeed then do your best to succeed but keep it honest and keep it fun.
The moment I lose having fun and things turn into a shouting match then I won't post the video, as much fun that might be for some people I don't want to make things annoying for the viewer where I just go on a rampage with insults and frustration. A bit of frustration is honest, but showing someone a mental breakdown is just unwanted stuff. Even if some people might be interesting in that then you really have to ask yourself if this is something you want other people to see. Certain things you should keep to yourself, no matter how many views it might get you!
