Movie Monday: Captain America: Civil War

I think a lot of people were excited about this movie, a movie with a lot of popular super heroes in it and it's not even an Avenger movie! But what does this exactly mean? What I saw in for example X-men 3 the last stand is that too many super heroes in one movie can be a bad thing. But how does this affect Captain America: Civil War? More is better? As I mentioned before in the third X-men movie (the last stand) that this isn't always a good thing but in Captain America: Civil War it actually is a good thing. Eventhough there are a lot of heroes it never feels like someone is left out in the cold, they all get some attention and cool moments. So I don't think there are really things to complain about when it comes to the amount of heroes. The large amount of heroes in this movie also make epic fight scenes, the one in the airport is probably the best one, even better so I think it's safe to say that for this movie more is better! It's also fun to see certain c...

Sinful Sunday: Dealing with disappointments

In your life there will be several moments when you have to deal with disappointments. It's part of life and I guess you can't really escape that. But that doesn't mean your entire life is based on disappointments. As much as I like to go a little bit filosofical I would rather talk a bit about minor disappointments, especially the type of disappointments you would encounter when buying and playing games. Games aren't always as good as you would like them to be? When you play games then you have dealt with disappointments, for example games that turned out to be really bad or games that couldn't interest you more than just a couple of days. Those are some of the worst disappointments you can get when it comes to buying and playing games. It really sucks when you just bought a game and you finish the game the same day and multiplayer isn't that exciting either, that is assuming there is multiplayer in that game. That's 60 Dollars/Euros down the drain! Eve...

Titanfall 2 (campaign)

If you played Titanfall then you probably remember how lame the campaign was in that game. Sure the multiplayer matches were fine but it was so vague what was going on because while NPCs were talking you had to defend or attack an area so I can't say that I was paying a lot of attention to what was being said. Then there was also the chance that you would lose the battle and that would be weird when you were supposed to win the battle. So I'm glad that Titanfall 2 has a single player campaign and it's pretty good! Who are you in the campaign? You play as Jack Cooper, a rifleman that is promoted to pilot when the pilot of a titan dies and makes you his replacement. This is the beginning of an interesting story where you see the bond between man and machine, which is actually quite fascinating. Your titan is BT and he will be your protector but don't think it's just you sitting in a titan gunning down other people or titans. Nope, you also have to do quite a lot o...

What I hate about Battlefield 1

Battlefield 1 is a fun game, it absolutely has moments that are epic and make you want to play it for a long time. But then there are also moments that just make me want to punch the screen. A lot of these moments are all thanks to other players in the game, so is Battlefield 1 really at fault here? Maybe not but it doesn't take away how certain things can really ruin a game for you. People are the worst in Battlefield 1? The worst? Not really, but there are some annoying douchebags that hang around in Battlefield 1 multiplayer. For example the jackass that camps in his tank, the scumbags that ignore the objectives and camp as scouts on a place near an enemy spawn for some quick kills, people that wait around corners with a shotgun for an easy kill, people in the zeppelin that spawn kill you over and over again, people that make it their mission to knife you in the back and of course the sad sacks of shit that need to teabag you after they shoot you in the back. Maybe a lot of ...

Is sex in games necessary?

I know that in certain countries sex is considered as a bad thing, at least in games. So the moment where two characters in the game get physical with eachother then some people already scream bloody murder. Even if the game is for people of 18 years and older. Apparently we need people to tell us that sex is bad, eventhough without it none of us would be here. But is sex so bad in games? You don't need sex in a game? That depends, because when I play a first person shooter like CoD or Battlefield then sex isn't something that springs to mind when I play these games. But if you play games with an interesting story, interesting characters and you being able to get into relationships with these characters then it makes more sense. Of course then it's up to the developers how they handle that. Are they going to show the whole thing or is it just going to be a tease where the screen goes black? But to answer the main question, no you don't need sex in a game. Why? Becau...

Friends that don't want to play games with you

It probably sounds odd, you have a friend that has the same game as you for the same console or for pc and yet he or she doesn't want to play it with you. That kind of gets you thinking, is there something wrong with you or is this person not really your friend? Your friend is not your friend? It's strange when someone that you consider as a friend is acting in such a way that he or she doesn't want to play games with you. Now I'm not saying that just because you play the same games that it means you have to play together, but if there is a multiplayer mode in the game then why wouldn't you want to team up every now and then? You don't have to play together all the time but never? That seems a bit weird to me, especially if this person is supposed to be your friend. So how good of a friend is this person? Look I understand that some people are busy and don't always feel like playing games with other people, but never is never and I just don't see how...

Battlefield 1 (multiplayer)

As much fun as single player can be in the campaign I think most people buy games like Battlefield for multiplayer and I understand why because multiplayer is beautiful! The chaos, the horror, the intense moments and the ferocity you see in these battles (especially in conquest, operations and rush) make it a very interesting game! But how good is multiplayer really? Let's find out! What's new in multiplayer? There are two new game modes, operations and war pigeons, that both play quite different. In operations you play through some battles that really happened in World War I, but the outcome is of course in the hands of the players. That doesn't mean that it's boring, far from it because a lot of crazy things happen in operations and just when you think it's over there's another round (you will also switch to other maps if you make it far enough) with even more intense battles. War pigeons is something completely different, there are no vehicles but it'...

Movie Monday: Jurassic World

When I was a kid I watched Jurassic Park with my sister, that was one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen in the cinema. I also watched the sequels and eventhough I also love the lost world I was a bit disappointed in Jurassic Park 3. So I must admit that I was surprised that years later there was going to be a fourth movie called Jurassic World. It pretty much takes you back to the park idea but this time bigger and better...well maybe not better. What's also different here is that the park is fully operational. But as you might expect things don't go exactly as planned. Dinosaurs are cool? As a kid I thought so, as an adult I'm not exactly a fan but it still fun to see a dinosaur movie. What kind of disappointed me are the moments where people are just being served to to die at the hands eh claws of the dinosaurs. In Jurassic Park there is that moment where someone gets eaten, I won't spoil anything eventhough the movie is from 1993 so you probably seen ...

Sinful Sunday: Are you cheating?

Sometimes it's obvious when someone is cheating in a game, for example people that just can't be killed or people that can shoot through walls (while other players can't do this in the game). But sometimes it's not that obvious, sometimes it might look like someone is cheating but if you watch the killcam (if that's even possible) closely you often see that they got lucky or that they really did just get that much time to aim for your head. The trick is not to get mad immediately and scream cheater. How do you know that someone is cheating? In games like GTA V Online it's very easy to see who is a cheater and who isn't a cheater, because if you emtpy your clip into another person or blow them up with a rocket and they're still standing there not taking any damage then it's quite obvious that they're cheating. But in games like Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch and Battlefield 1 it's not always that easy to spot cheaters. Maybe you'll be po...

Battlefield 1 (campaign)

When I play a new game that has both a campaign and multiplayer then I prefer to first play the campaign, because multiplayer is more fun to play after the campaign instead of first playing some multiplayer matches and then diving into the campaign. I know some people don't even bother playing the campaign in some games but I can really recommend playing the campaign in Battlefield 1 because it's pretty good! More than just one story? The campaign exists out of different stories told by different people during World War I. Immediately from the start you dive into the madness of a relentless attack by the Germans and you playing as members of the Harlem Hellfighters have to give everything to stop them. Not only does this show a realistic view on the war, it also shows you how insane and horrifying it must have been. Each campaign chapter takes you to another time and place in the war, so expect to travel in a tank through France and flying in the sky as a pilot and sneaking...

What does the Red Dead Redemption 2 teaser trailer show us?

I barely talked about Red Dead Redemption 2 and there was already a trailer, I guess sometimes things go faster than I realize! It's not a very long trailer but it does show us some things you can expect in the game and might even confirm some theories! Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel? It sure looks that way, because in Red Dead Redemption you're already at the end of the Wild West era so looking at this Red Dead Redemption 2 trailer I can see that things look a bit more wild and less civilized than Red Dead Redemption. Everything looks a bit more new and less worn out, just looking at the general store in the trailer which looks like it just opened. So I think it's safe to assume that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel. More proof that Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel you can see in the trailer. For example you see less train tracks, no cars and a lot more buffalo's. This also means that you will most likely meet some familiar faces from Red Dead Redemption, b...

Being forced to play games with other people?

I'm not going to lie, I prefer to play games on my own and even in multiplayer I prefer to go my own way instead of being a part of the team. Maybe it's just the lone wolf in me that wants to do things on his own but I know that sometimes it's better and smarter to team up with other people. The thing is that when you're forced to do this, for example in a co-op game mode where you have to work together to survive or win, that people are often more likely to rage quit or just give up on the team than in an optional team mode. People don't like to play with other people? Sometimes I get that idea and I can't say that I blame them, sometimes it's just more fun to play on your own. Maybe some people disagree and prefer to play with other people but these people are often playing with their friends or they're part of a clan or a group of people that like to play games together. When you're a random player in a team full of other random players then t...

Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming in 2017!

This is some great news, at least for everyone that loves Red Dead Redemption or Wild West games. I really like Red Dead Redemption and I played it a lot! Both single player and multiplayer because both are a lot of fun to play. But now that Red Dead Redemption 2 has been confirmed, what can we expect from this game? Red Dead Redemption 2 is a prequel? This is what most people think and to be honest it does make a lot of sense. The main character from Red Dead Redemption, John Marston, is pretty popular and after the ending in Red Dead Redemption a lot of people where a bit disappointed it ended the way it ended (no spoilers from me). So it makes sense that in Red Dead Redemption 2 you go back several years, maybe a lot of years, before whatever happened in Red Dead Redemption. This could mean you play as John Marston or maybe other members of his old gang. Perhaps you can make your own character and play as a member of that gang? Well my money is on you playing as a young(er) John...

Too many achievements in one game?

Achievements are different in each game, no I'm not talking about the names of the achievements but the amount of achievements in a game. Some games have about ten achievements and then there are games that have more than 50 achievements. The question is which is better? To have only a few achievements in a game that are worth a lot or to have a lot of achievements in a game that are worth a lot less. It probably won't surprise you that the answer lies somewhere in the middle. Too many achievements in a game is a bad thing? It sounds silly but yes I think it's a bad thing, for example if for every little thing you do you get an achievement (often worth 5 Gamerscore) then you have to ask yourself if that's worth it. Because kill three enemies in a row, revive a team mate, get a double kill with a grenade and melee five enemies to death in one level are all things to do that you can reward people for with an achievement but if you do that for every little thing in a g...

Movie Monday: John Wick

After the announcement of John Wick 2 I couldn't help but think back of John Wick. This is a movie I didn't think was going to be that good, I mean the action looks interesting in the trailer but the whole revenge idea is nothing new and beating the overwhelming odds seems like it's been done in dozens of other movies before. But John Wick isn't just another action movie, it's a movie where I actually wanted the bad guys to suffer because of what they did. Of course they're all actors but the anger you feel when John's puppy is killed by the robbers is so overwhelming that I couldn't help but feel that I wanted them to suffer. Not a movie for dog lovers? Probably not, eventhough John's quest to kill the people that killed his puppy is giving you some satisfaction it's still hard to see that moment where John buries the puppy. That's a moment where I really feel sad and at the same time so mad. So you can imagine how good it feels when Joh...

Sinful Sunday: No social skills in online communication?

I'd be one of the last people to say that I'm social, I'm not that eager to talk to strangers and I prefer to keep things short if there is something that needs to be said (for example a callout in multiplayer). But I do try to keep things civilized if possible, because what's the point of being rude or obnoxious? Not everyone is social? Well that's not a surprise, not at all actually. Just look at Overwatch and the amount of people that don't say a word the entire match. Which is fine if you're well but if your team is getting destroyed then it's good to communicate so you can better counter the attacks of the other team. Als in the Halloween event, Junkenstein's revenge, it's good to communicate but so far I haven't met one person that actually communicates. I guess most people can't be bothered to plug a microphone in or just don't feel like talking. This is something I understand but if it can mean the difference between winni...

Gaming ruins/saves a relationship?

Do you have a boyfriend or girlfriend that plays games? You would think that you're lucky that he or she likes to do what you like to do, but did you know that relationships where both partners play games can still fail? You might not think so since you have so much in common but sometimes too much in common can be a bad thing and if one of you (maybe even both) are spending a lot of time on playing games that usually means less time with eachother. Ok you can play games together but that's not the same as spending some time together outside the house or just watching a movie together on the couch. But most importantly do you actually talk with eachother instead of giving instructions how to beat a boss in a game or what the plan of attack will be in a raid? Gaming ruins relationships? Sometimes it does, mostly because one of the two or maybe both are addicted to playing games and will spend the majority of the day on playing games. You might think that's fine when both...

YouTube adventures -36- Montage madness

Do you remember those 80's movies with the montages in it? That was usually one of my favourite moments in the movie, because it was usually the moment where someone becomes stronger, learns new moves or it's like a bonding moment with other people. But now you have montages on YouTube as well, usually a montage from someone getting kills in a first person shooter. If one or two people would be doing that then I wouldn't care but the problem is that a lot of people do that and throw this on YouTube which creates... Montage madness! Hate would be a strong word to describe how I feel about gaming montages, some are actually fun or informative. You know when a YouTuber actually talks about something else while showing his montage which makes the montage more something to give the listener something to look at while the YouTuber talks. But then there are also people that try to make themselves look amazing at a game by only putting the their kills in the video and the mome...

Overwatch Halloween event, good or bad?

It's almost Halloween so it's time for Halloween events to show up in certain games. Overwatch isn't missing this opportunity to squeeze some more money out of the players by offering some new skins, intro cutscene, victory poses and more. But is this really worth it or are we just throwing more money at Blizzard? It's worth spending money on loot boxes? That is the real question, because who is going to play for three weeks non stop just to earn a lot of loot boxes and hoping that the stuff they want is in one of those loot boxes? Even if you could do that there are at least two other interesting games launching during the Halloween event (Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2) so I can imagine that some people just rather want to play those games or keep playing Gears of War 4 that also launched recently. So the best choice of getting the items you want from the loot boxes without spending a lot of time on earning them is just buying them, unfortunately that costs real mo...

Gears of War 4, better than the GoW trilogy?

I must admit that I didn't see Gears of War 4 coming, mostly because Gears of War 3 looked like a good ending for the series. But then there was Gears of War Judgement, a game that got a lot of hate, and I thought that was definitely the end for Gears of War. But now there is Gears of War 4 and we go back to our favourite grumpy gear Marcus Feniks, except this takes place a couple of decades later and Marcus is an old man and you play as his son JD. The campaign is good? The first thing I do in these type of games is play the campaign, because multiplayer can wait and horde mode will be there once I'm done with the campaign. But how good is the campaign? Well we go back to the one or two player campaign, instead of the four player campaign from the two previous Gears of War games, and you still can't pick your character which means that player one is JD and player two is Kait. This is actually not a bad thing but I think some people would rather pick their own character...

GTA V Online Biker dlc, the best dlc so far?

I've played GTA V since day one on my Xbox 360, I really enjoy playing single player but it's of course all about GTA V Online where you can pretty much whatever you want...unless you're playing on your own. It's surprising how little you can do when you're not in a group or playing multiplayer matches (races and/or deathmatch), which is probably why so many people shoot the shit out of eachother in public lobbies. But now with the Biker dlc you can actually do things on your own and you don't need a ridiculous amount of money to get started! Easy way to make money? One of my biggest problem in GTA V Online is that I always had a hard time earning money, because I never found a good heist team (someone would always leave during the heist which automaticly fails the heist) and the business dlc stuff is all very expensive (the cheapest building is a million and that is without any extras) so you're usually on the streets selling cars to the chop shop and d...

Movie Monday: Jason Bourne

This is the fourth movie in the Jason Bourne series with Matt Damon and the fifth in the Jason Bourne series, but is it as good as one of the first movies? It's difficult to say because eventhough there is a lot going on and you learn once again more about Jason Bourne but things seem to be a bit rushed in this movie. That keeps things fast and interesting but sometimes leaves moments in the story kind of awkward. This isn't the best Jason Bourne movie? In my opinion the first movie is the best movie, but that definitely doesn't make Jason Bourne a bad movie. I think it's an improvement than the previous movie (the Bourne Identity) which with all respect for the actors in that movie felt a bit different mostly because Jason Bourne wasn't in that movie, but in all honesty Jason Bourne feels once again as a real part of the Jason Bourne movies and that's how it should be! I think for fans that have seen the previous Jason Bourne movies that this is a movie you...

Sinful Sunday: Grabbing women in their private parts?

No doubt you heard the latest news of a certain douchebag that wants to be president of a certain country, oh I won't use names but I think we all know who I'm talking about. This guy said that it's ok to grab women in their pussy. I feel disgusted just typing that but apparently it's ok if I have to believe this guy, but it's a good thing I don't believe that guy and I wouldn't do that myself. But this douchebag does show how some men see women and how far we still have to go to get equality. Why do some men see women like objects? Well I'm not a shrink so I can't give you the details but I guess some men just like to be stuck in the dark ages, you know when women couldn't vote and where only good for getting kids. At least that's how a lot of men saw women back then and women couldn't really fight back because that wasn't tolerated at all. Now hundreds of years further you would think that we have matured, that things are better...

Overwatch isn't as good as I first thought?

I know that multiplayer games are more fun if you play them with friends, but sometimes you don't have friends that play games or play the same games as you. That means that you either play the game on your own or not play it at all. But multiplayer games offer you teams, you can team up with other people and if you work well together you can win. But how well do you work with other people in a team when there is no communication and people all go their own way? Overwatch is difficult to enjoy as a solo player? Unfortunately it is, because a lot of matches I played were lost because of your team not working as a team and not because the other team was much better. What's worse is that people who play alone (not in a group) often encounter people who play in a group and if your whole team exists out of people that aren't in a group then you can bet your ass on it that it will be difficult to beat the team that is in a group because they will communicate and work together...

YouTube adventures part -35- Your YouTube identity

Who are you? That's a good question and I don't think everyone can give a good answer to that question. But then again what is a good answer to that question? Is your name who you are? Is the way you look who you are? Is what you do who you are? What defines you as you? I guess you kind of understand now how it's difficult to create your own type of YouTube identity on YouTube because you could just say you're you but what does that actually mean? Your YouTube identity. For some people it's easy, they know what they want and how they want to do it. Then it's still the question if he or she can do it but it does help if you know what you want to do with your channel. For example if you love playing games and want to share that with others then you already have a solid foundation for your channel, I guess at that point it's just the question what kind of gaming videos you're going to make. Are you going for the montage, competitive multiplayer videos, ...

Gears of War 4, get the ultimate edition or not?

Tomorrow the ultimate edition for Gears of War 4 comes out and I think a lot of people are interested in getting that. Not just for some nice extras but probably also for the four days early acces. But is that really worth the extra money you have to pay for the game? Ultimate or standard edition? For me it's simple, I want to play Gears of War 4 but I can wait four more days to play it so I don't get the ultimate edition, because who cares that some players will have early acces to the game? It's not that this means you need to get it early as well, because in multiplayer a lot of things are settled with the gnasher shotgun or with power weapons so getting early acces probably gives you some map knowledge advantages for the first couple of days but I don't see how this makes me want to spend extra money on a game I can get for a normal price several days later. Sure the ultimate edition also has some extra goodies but you also get the season pass which is actually ...

Stealth in games, do we want that?

Looking back at my early days of playing games I must admit that I hated stealth, I really dislike those moments in games when you couldn't be noticed or it would be game over. Even now I can really get annoyed by games that give you an instant game over when you get spotted by an enemy. But stealth isn't as bad as I first thought because it gives you another way to play a game and sometimes it makes things a lot easier. For example in Skyrim you can sneak around and shoot enemies with a bow and kill almost everyone with one shot as long as they don't see you. So stealth is more fun than I first thought, but does that mean we want stealth in all games? Stealth isn't for everyone? You could say that, I mean we all can use stealth but it's just not for everyone because stealth requires patience and skill and even if you lack one of the two then it's still going to be an annoying game experience. I'm impatient and I don't think I have that much skill wi...

Hitting on girls online is creepy?

I was playing some Overwatch and noticed that one of the members on my team is a girl. Unlike some girls she actually used her mic and everyone could hear that she's a girl. So far no problem here. But then some guys in my team started hitting on her, first they made some compliments about her skill as a Mercy (healer) and then it quickly went to how sexy her voice sounds. Now you tell me, is that going too far or is this normal? Online flirting is creepy? Not really, but there should be a time and place for that and in a game is probably not the best place for that. But it would also depend what kind of game you play. For example I played a lot of Guild Wars and there would always be a good chance you would meet up with girls. This didn't automaticly mean that you would start flirting with her but sometimes it would change things. Maybe you're wondering how this would change things, well the easy answer is that some guys want to impress the girl with either skill or th...

Movie Monday: Star Trek Beyond

This is already the third movie in the Star Trek reboot/alternate timeline movies. I know some people hate Star Trek and others just hate these reboot/alternate timeline movies but I actually like these movies. Sure they take something that was already there but take it in a different direction. Some people hate that, but others love it! Is this movie better than the second movie? Just as it was with the original Star Trek movies the second movie is the best movie and the third is a bit less impressive. But I would like to say that this third Star Trek movie is a lot better than the third original Star Trek movie. Things seem to be going well with the crew of the Enterprise in Star Trek Beyond but you quickly hear that things aren't really going so well with everyone. There are doubts and choices to be made, which leads to certain situations. But you're probably wondering who the big bad villain is and he is a bit different then what I expected, which is interesting but unf...

Sinful Sunday: Gamers are selfish?

In a lot of games you have to work together to win, but somehow you always have people on your team that think they can do things on their own and will often fail. I understand that need to do things on your own, as a lone wolf you would rather do things your own way instead of working with strangers. But the problem is that some games are actually made for people to work together, so if you bring your lone wolf shit to those games then you're in for a nasty surprise! Being a lone wolf makes you selfish? Not really, but you will often see people go their own way in a game and they'll screw over their team with one of their actions. For example a healer that uses his or her healing ability too early or a tank that aggravates too many people or enemy groups and lure them to his or her team, which is mostly a dick move. So where does being selfish come in play? Selfish behaviour comes in play when there is loot to be divided, just watch how some people want to take everything...
