You're a beast master in Far Cry Primal?
I love games with an animal companion, just look at Fable 2 and 3 or Fallout 3 and 4. It's great to have an animal follow you arround and help you out when you need it. But what if you could have more than just one animal following you around? What if you could control animals or ride on them into battle? Now that would be pretty amazing!
The hunter and the animals fight together?
Far Cry Primal takes place in the stone age, I don't know how accurate I can be with that but the cavemen and prehistoric animals kind of gave me that impression, and you're a hunter with some amazing abilities. Not only are you a hunter, you can also tame animals to fight for you. An impressive trick people seem to have lost these days, at least if you would consider Far Cry Primal to be realistic. When you sneak up on a wild animal you can tame that animal, assuming it's one of the many animals you can tame, and then the animal will fight for you. This means a wolf, jaguar, bear, sabertooth tiger and even a mammoth. Depending on your playstyle or the situation a certain animal will be more uself. For example a bear if you need a tank to protect you while you do your thing, a jaguar for the players that prefer to use stealth, a wolf if you like to know where the enemies are on the map to better plan your attack and a mammoth if you just want to charge in and go on a rampage!
You have an eye in the sky?
Next to your animal companions you also have an owl that can scout an area for you, this is a prehistoric version of a recon drone that allows you to check out an area and you can even get kills with your own when the owl makes an attack dive on an enemy! This trick looks a bit like the warg ability from Game of Thrones, because you control the owl and see through the eyes of the owl. That's pretty cool and gives you a way to check areas without having to go there yourself.
Friends for life?
You can hurt your animal companion, for example set the animal on fire, but I don't think that will make the animal turn on you or that you can actually kill the animal. Enemies also don't kill your animal but they can wound your animal companion and you can heal your friend with a piece of meat. If you want to swap your animal companions you can also do that, you can pick which one you want to have you follow around and so select the right animal companion for a mission. The idea is that you capture land for your tribe, which means killing a lot of cavemen that aren't friendly or just in the way of your tribe. This also means that you have to deal with wild animals and not all of them want to be your friend. But there are more ways of dealing with enemies than your spear. You also have fire, which can be dangerous for you as well as you can set a whole area on fire if you're not careful, and bee grenades that can hurt enemies a lot and leave them open for attack. Far Cry Primal is looking quite interesting and I'll be keeping an eye on this game!
