Rainbow Six Siege (first impression)

I must admit that I never truly played a Rainbow Six game, sure I played the demo of a couple of Rainbow Six games but I never truly bought one of the Rainbow Six games. Until I saw Rainbow Six Siege, this game looks like a lot of fun and I couldn't help but try it out myself and so far I'm not disappointed!

Pick your operator.

You have a selection from twenty operators from five teams of four, each operator has his or her own special ability plus a certain weapon loadout. Of course you can change the loadout a bit but you're restricted to certain weapons and your armor is also based on which operator you picked. So a shield operator, for example Montagne, has heavy armor and is a bit tougher to take down while an intelligence operator, for example IQ, has light armor and goes down a bit easier. What I really like about Rainbow Six Siege is that you can pick your own operator, so it doesn't require you to be a certain level to play as a certain operator. As long as you have enough fame (500 fame for the first operator in a team, 1000 fame for the second operator in a team, 1500 fame for the third operator in a team and 2000 fame for the fourth operator in a team) you can get every operator no matter what level you are, but it's important that you pick a good first operator because the next operator in a team will be more expensive so if you pick an operator you don't like then the next one from the same team will be more expensive (it will cost you 500 fame extra every time you buy an operator from the same team). The operators have some cool abilities that allows you to blow through walls, doors or floors but there are also other type of operators that use a shield or put traps on the ground. It really depends what type of operator you have, because there are attackers and defenders and depending on which side you are it means you can only use certain operators. But don't worry, both the attackers and the defenders have some interesting operators so you should be able to hold your ground!

Everything breaks!

What I really like about Rainbow Six Siege is that you can destroy almost everything, this gives you new entry options into a building or room and it also creates new vantage points to shoot enemies when they're holed up in a room. It's sometimes crazy to see a building rumble with explosions and see the debris flying left and right around your ears, but it's so much fun to do! You can even stun enemies or if you're lucky kill them with a well placed explosive on the wall. Some operators have abilities that give you the option to totally demolish a wall, door or trapdoor (on the floor). This helps you and your team reach the objective or enemies from a different direction and you can even suprise them. But it's not just buildings that can be destroyed, you can also destroy fortifications, gadgets (often controlled by other players or placed by other players) and cameras. So if you like to destroy then this game might be something for you!

Play alone or with your friends.

It's smart to first do the training missions, here you can play solo against some computer controlled enemies that will help you learn how to play and help you get familiar with some operators. You also get fame here that you can use to unlock more operators. If you feel confident enough you can try your luck in multiplayer and face other players in a five vs five team deathmatch, this is pretty intense and it's important that you work as a team because going for a solo action can cost you your life in the game and make it harder for your team to win! There are several types of matches in multiplayer, it's usually objective based where you face five other players and you need to kill a NPC or defuse a bomb, but you can also win if you manage to kill all players on the other team. Then there is also terrorist hunt, this is where you can play solo or with a team against computer controlled enemies that will make your life pretty difficult (depending on which difficulty you play). You can choose to play on normal, hard or realistic. This also a good training for you to improve your skills and hopefully it leads to more succes in multiplayer. The game is not huge but the fun you can have with this game is pretty big, even when you play solo you can definitely have fun with this game eventhough I would still recommend playing Rainbow Six Siege with friends. Rainbow Six Siege isn't as fast as Black Ops 3 but the ability of destroying your environment makes up for that and it's also more tense when you can't move so quickly and when mistakes will be punished severly! So if you think that you're up for a tactical first person shooter then feel free to give Rainbow Six Siege a try!
