Final Fantasy VII remake has a multi part release?
Let me first explain what a multi part release is, that means you get multiple games. So in other words the Final Fantasy VII remake will not just be one game on a disc, it will be multiple games that will be released at different times which means that you might have to wait years to play the second and/or third part of the game. Is this a good idea or do you hate this?
Multi part release is a bad idea?
In the old Final Fantasy games you often had to switch discs, this wasn't a big problem because you got all the discs with the game. But now with this multi part release you get a part of Final Fantasy VII (you'll probably have to pay the full price for that) and then wait a couple of years for the next part. I don't think I have to explain why this is a bad idea, but just for you I'll do it anyway. When I'm playing a game with a big story (which is usually your typical RPG) then I want to play it in one go, it's not that I take a break when I'm halfway in and then a year or two later I start playing again. That makes no sense! Which is why I'm not a big fan of this multi part release and I doubt that there are many people out there that are happy with this. Not only will you probably have to wait a long time until you can play the full game, you also have to pay extra for a game that had a complete version before and now has been split up in parts to drain extra money from the people that are interested in it. That just seems wrong to me!
Multi part release is a good idea?
Square-Enix did give a good reason to do it this way, they said that it's a big project (the remake of Final Fantasy VII) and that with the multi part relase people can play the game sooner instead of having to wait till 2020 (more or less). That's a good reason actually, so you might be able to start playing the Final Fantasy VII remake in 2016 but it's not going to be the full game as you know from the Playstation. So if you can't wait to play the Final Fantasy VII remake and you're ok that it's just a part of the original Final Fantasy VII then that's good news. But I think a lot of fans are disappointed, they expected more and it sucks to see one of their favourite games being cut up like that.
Should you still be excited about the Final Fantasy VII remake?
Of course! I mean if you like Final Fantasy VII then the remake will most likely be something you're interested in, unless you don't like the new fighting system and/or the way characters look in the remake. The thing is that you can't make everyone happy, sometimes people have to make decisions and that will lead to happiness for some but disappointment to others. Since we're still far away from the Final Fantasy VII remake launch (the first part) I'd say we just wait and see what happens next, because at this point we don't know how big one part will be and maybe the developers added a lot of extra stuff into the game that will keep you busy for quite some time. It also remains to be seen how the character date transfer will be, so will your level 25 Cloud still be level 25 in the next part or do you have to start over? Do you only play as Cloud or do you play as other characters from the party in other parts of the Final Fantasy VII remake? There are still enough questions that haven't been answered and so it's too early to judge the game, especially since it hasn't even launched yet. So let's wait and see what the remake will be and if the multi part release will work out for players. I'm a bit sceptic about that but I keep an open mind, hopefully it will be an unforgettable adventure and worth waiting so long for!
