Star Wars Battlefront (first impression)

I don't think you even need to be a Star Wars fan to have fun with this game, it's a fantastic shooter that allows you to play for either the Republic or the Empire. But is this really a game that can stand out in all the other first person shooter games? Well let's take a closer look!

Hero or soldier?

It's pretty simple, two teams and the one who has the most points wins. But I think you don't do the game enough justice. You all start as soldiers and then fight it out on a huge map, on this map you can play as all types of characters. For example you can be a pilot or control the huge AT AT on some maps, but the most fun you'll probably have playing as one of the heroes. For the Republic that's Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa. For the Empire you can play as Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine and Boba Fett. They all have their own special powers and can help the troops, but the problem is that some heroes are just a bit more useful than others. For example Luke is faster than Darth Vader so in a battle between them you have a better chance to win as Luke. But also as a soldier you can do some serious damage, with sniper rifles or rocket launchers you can take down some of those tough opponents.

Not just one mode?

If you think that's just battlefields than you're mistaken! There are other modes you can play and one of them most fun modes out there is the hero mode where two team fight against eachother and each team has three of the hero characters. If all three hero characters are defeated your team loses that round, this is actually a lot of fun and gives people the chance to all play as one of the heroes. Even when you're not playing as one of the three heroes you can still help as a soldier. Then there is also a mode where you can fly in a space ship, in huge battles in the sky you try to beat the other team by taking down as many space ships as you can or try to take down some of the iconic ships like the Slave 1 (Boba Fett's ship). It can be chaotic but that also means that there's a lot to do!

It's a race?

Something I'm not a big fan of are the power ups that give you the ability to play as a hero character or fly in a space ship and so on. Why? Because there are always people that will camp around the areas where the power ups are so it's usually the same people that get them, also from the start of the match people usually run for those power ups to get in certain vehicles and/or get the hero power up. That's great but if you're not familiar with the map or just not fast enough you're not going to be able to get these power ups and it means you're not going to play anything else than a soldier. Which is fine I guess but it's just something I don't like. It's not a big deal though, the game offers you a lot to do and as a soldier you can still have a great time. Hopefully you get lucky and find your way to the power ups in time and have a great time!
