A game offends you?
These days people seem to be offended by the weirdest things, usually because someone takes the game too seriously or is just looking for something to rage against. But are certain games really offensive? Let's find out!
Women aren't always correctly portrayed in games?
What one person likes the other hates, that becomes pretty clear when you look at how some women are portrayed in games. In some games they're hardly wearing clothes and when they do wear clothes they're almost bursting out of them with their breasts or they seem to be a size or two too small. It doesn't surprise me that some people (mostly women I assume) find this offensive. But is it really so bad? Well in some cases it goes pretty far, as in women are just objects for lust and fantasies in those games. But sometimes developers are just a bit silly with their characters and make them look good, perhaps a bit too good but I doubt their is any ill intent tied to that. It's easy to get offended, but you could also ignore the game and play something else if it truly offends you.
An African American character sounds like a white guy or girl?
Some people are actually offended by this, that the character that is black in the game has the voice of someone that is white. At least that's what some people claim because it's not that you can always recognize someones race with just hearing their voice. And even if someone that is white would do the voice for a character in the game that is black (or vice versa) does that really matter? It doesn't keep me up at night and I can't say I pay a lot of attention to that, of course the voice of a character should fit with the character but I think it's wrong to say that only a white guy or girl can do the voices for white characters and a black guy or girl can only do the voices for black characters in a game. Does it really matter? I don't think it does. Black or white, we're all the same on the inside so who really cares? Oh right people who are easily offended...
You can't make fun of a religion?
This one is probably the most intense of them all, people even kill because of this. It's probably because of that reason that developers often don't touch religion in games, unless it's part of the story. I know that Assassin's Creed games have their own version on how the world was created but they always put the message of how this is a work of fiction and that people of all types of religions and cultures work on this game at the start of their games. I guess it's how they're trying to say that it's just a game and that's how people should see it. Games are fun and you shouldn't take things that are fun too seriously because then you're missing the point! If you can't enjoy playing games then maybe you should do something else? I know that I wouldn't want to spend time doing something that offends me or makes me uncomfortable, but then again some people have nothing better to do.
