Resident Evil Zero HD Remaster
Good news for Resident Evil fans, Resident Evil Zero is appearing for the Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC. So if you never played the Gamecube version or later the Wii version then you'll get a chance now. It's scheduled for early 2016, so you'll have to wait a little bit longer to play it.
Why Resident Evil Zero and not Resident Evil 2?
After Resident Evil it doesn't surprise me that Resident Evil Zero is the next game that gets remastered, because just like Resident Evil it's a game that already had decent graphics (for that time) and it's and easier task than working on making Resident Evil 2 look good. But that doesn't mean that this will never happen, I guess you'll just need more patience for that. Assuming that Capcom will eventually do the same for Resident Evil 2 and 3.
Is Resident Evil Zero an important game in the Resident Evil series?
This game was added later and it's a prequel for Resident Evil, so in a way you don't really need to play it to understand the story. But it's a nice addition to the story of Resident Evil and gives you some more information about Bravo team (the team that went missing in Resident Evil) and what happened to them. I would like to add that it doesn't answer all questions, but at least it gives you a look at S.T.A.R.S. before the madness in the mansion started.
Two main characters?
By now you're probably familiar with the partner system in Resident Evil games, Resident Evil 5 and 6 use that system as well and you find this not so surival horror type of gameplay also in Resident Evil Revelations 2. You switch between Rebecca and Billy (a criminal that has escaped), with the two characters you have to make your way through creepy buildings and solve some puzzles. If one of the two characters dies then you lose, so you might want to keep an eye on your partner! I'm not a big fan of the partner system but in Resident Evil Zero it was new and interesting, but at this point I just want to move forward and not switch back and forth between two characters.
