Looking back at.....Mass Effect 2!
Some people consider this game as the best Mass Effect game. Why? Because it was an improvement of the first game and was exciting up to the last moment. Something I can´t say about the third game and the first game was a nice game but the weapons that would constantly overload if you fired too much are a bit annoying. So yeah I think that Mass Effect 2 is the best Mass Effect game, also thanks to amazing dlc likethe Shadow Broker dlc where you have Liara (from the first Mass Effect game) in your team and you can even romance her (again). It´s safe to say that Mass Effect 2 is a great game and a lot of fun to play!
Story.
Once again you play as Commander Shepard but something goes wrong in the intro, the Normandy (your ship) is under attack and Commander Shepard is killed. What?!!! Yes he or she (you can choose the gender yourself or if you import your data from Mass Effect you get the exact looking character from that game) is killed but is then brought back to life by Cerberus, a group of humans that want to make humanity the strongest (and probably only) dominate species in the universe. Shepard accepts their help and starts to investigate who is kidnapping humans from human colonies, at the same time you also gather a team together for a special mission towards the end. But I won´t spoil what that exactly is!
Paragon or Renegade?
Mass Effect 2 also gives you choices, wether you´re a good guy (or girl) or a bad guy (or girl). But also how you deal with your crew. For example do you want to be friends or not? Maybe there is a member on your team you kind of fancy and you can get into a romantic relationship with that person. But as a male Shepard you can only get with female members and as a female Shepard only with male members of the crew. Often crew members will like you more if you´re nice to them and help them with something. This is often a mission and it will also unlock an alternative look for that character. Your choices will have an impact on the story, but definitely in the final mission where not everyone will make it if you make bad decisions!
Best game in the series. (so far)
I don´t know if it´s just because of the story, the characters, the new weapon system or everything combined that makes this game so much fun to play. But it´s a great game and definitely worth checking out! Some people actually didn´t play the first Mass Effect game first but the second Mass Effect game, which can be a little bit confusing and if you play the first Mass Effect game after playing Mass Effect 2 then it´s definitely a step back. But it´s still fun to play and I can recommend checking out the first Mass Effect game, if only for the story and building up a character that you can take with you to the two sequels. Mass Effect 2 is a rollercoaster ride that you won´t forget, but it´s also an exciting adventure that will test your knowledge about the characters that travel with you. Are you ready to save the universe, again?
