Mods ruin games?
With GTA V out on PC the mods are flying around like crazy and this makes some people happy while it makes others mad. Mods are usually meant to make a game interesting to play even after several years, it creates new possibilities and sometimes ridiculous happy accidents. But are mods a good thing?
Mods make games fun again?
Some people get bored easily with games, sometimes for good reason (for example they've played it for months) and then it's nice that there is something that keeps it interesting. I used mods for the Sims 2, it's a great way to get new items and options in the game. Especially if you've grown tired of the same stuff and want something new. So I'm definitely not against mods, I think that they can add something extra to a game and that's not a bad thing. Just be careful what you add because not everything is good!
Mods ruin games?
I think it was in Skyrim where someone had so many mods in his game that the game became almost impossible to play, which is something you should try to avoid. Too much of something is hardly ever a good thing, but I bet you already knew that by now. I did notice that the mods in GTA V are rising like crazy, which is strange because the game hasn't been out on PC for that long. I guess a lot of PC gamers already played the game on console and now bought it on PC so they could add some mods in the game. I don't think Rockstar is very happy with that, but can you truly stop the mods? Probably not...
Mods are the future?
It probably doesn't surprise you that sometimes mods turn into something the developers add in the next game or in an update. You see it's not all bad, sometimes it's so good that developers can't ignore the mods and they like it so much they want to add it to the game for everyone. Before you get excited I would like to add that this doesn't happen a lot. But mods do play a role for the future of games, they're like a proving ground for raw talent and sometimes also the birthplace for new ideas. So should we get rid of mods? No, I think that would be a bad idea!
