Launch dates/times are unfair?

I was excited for House of Wolves dlc, I got up early and installed the dlc which was a lot smaller than I first thought. Then I go online in Destiny and guess what? It's not ready yet! Apparently I have to wait till 7PM (GMT +1) because that's when the dlc goes live, eventhough it's already available for download and you can go online in the game. Why not give European gamers acces to the dlc already? Or is that unfair towards gamers in other parts of the world? Somehow nobody seems to give a shit if we (Europeans) have to wait a couple of more days for the launch of a game, but I guess a couple of hours early acces to dlc is out of the question.

If you're from the American continents or Asia then you probably don't know about how unfair this can be, but I think Europeans and probably Africans as well deal with this type of bullshit on a regular basis. Maybe you don't see the problem, who cares that you have to wait two more days? Well with online multiplayer it means several other players have leveled up quite a lot and will be close to impossible to beat with their better gear and weapons. If that's not enough then you have to make certain you stay as much offline as possible, because there are a lot of sad sacks of shit out there that love to spoil things. Once again another issue for gamers that have to wait because the game hasn't launched here yet. But if the timezone could actually work in our advantage then we still have to wait until the others are ready, oh we couldn't start a couple of hours ahead of the rest!


It's not all bad?


This might sound a lot like whining and in a way it is, but it's unfair and you get tired of this shit really fast! I guess the only upside of this crap is that you can hear some feedback about games before it's released here, so if a game is terrible then you could still cancel it here. But usually you do your homework and make certain that the game you want to buy is a good game, taking a gamble with a game can be an expensive mistake so you'll learn to investigate sooner or later. I guess I'm just bitter right now that once again I have to wait, eventhough European gamers are ready we can't play the new Destiny dlc because the Americans aren't ready yet. No we all have to wait till 7PM and then everyone will try to log in at the same time and that will create a fucking distaster, but hey as long as we all get a fair start in the new dlc! Smart move Bungie, yes this is truly some next level strategy...

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique. Of course these are just words at this point, nothing has been proven just yet!
