Sinful Sunday: Spending money on something you don´t use (often)

It seems that the economy isn´t as bad as it was a year ago but I think a lot of gamers still take it easy, with good reason! But that doesn´t mean that people don´t buy things they don´t really need or things they hardly use at all. But why do you buy these things?


A lot of things you buy, especially the things you don´t really need, are things you buy because of an impulse. It doesn´t really make sense but somehow you bought it, for example a new camo for your gun in CoD or a new costume for your character in Street Fighter. You don´t really need that but it looks cool and it´s not that expensive, which often leads to the impulse to buy it because when something looks cool and it´s not that expensive then it´s often just a click away from buying it. In a shop you might have the same issues but the trip from the place you picked something up to the point where you pay for it is longer than buying something online, because when you buy something online it goes faster and thus the impulse to buy it is a bit more dangerous. Of course one or two aren´t really dangerous, but when you buy a lot of these small things then you´re spending quite a lot of money!


So online shopping is easier but also riskier? Yes that´s about right, not just because with online shopping it´s easier to get in trouble (by spending more money than you have) but there are also people that try to hack into your account so they can steal your money or use your account to buy things. Either way that´s not good, of course this doesn´t mean you can´t buy things online but it does mean that you should be careful with that! That doesn´t take away how easy it is to buy things online, which also means that it´s easier to pay for a lot of things you don´t really need. So don´t feel bad to think about something before you decide to buy it, for example do you really need that item or is it just something that looks coo. to you?


Of course there are things you might want badly, for example a new game you´ve been waiting for or dlc that you really must have to continue your journey in a game. I get that and that´s not a bad thing, just remember that when you don´t have a lot of money to spend that you think about what is more important to you. Because playing games is great, but buying new clothes and good food is also important! Also don´t forget about the bills, because the people that want your money won´t forget about them!
