Sinful Sunday: Jealousy
In a lot of competitive games the winner often gets a lot of hate, wether that´s because he or she used a cheap tactic to win or maybe because the others just wished they would´ve won. Either way the winner deals with hate from other players, but is that always just? Sure camping is a sad tactic but it´s not forbidden! It makes me wonder if sometimes people are just jealous of the person that won, because in competitive games winning is important!
It´s just a game? That´s probably what your parents tought you, don´t worry it´s just a game. But in a lot of competitive games it´s often so much more than just a game. It´s about skill, honour, talent, fame and sometimes even money. Especially the last one can bring the ugly side out in a lot of games, when gamers compete over money then nobody wants to lose and everyone wants to win. It´s not a surprise that people that lose can be jealous of those that succeed, I guess it´s only natural that you want to succeed in life. But have games been tainted? With all this fame and money being involved, are you still having fun?
I think this plays a big part for a lot of people when it comes to playing games, because as long as you´re having fun it doesn´t really matter if you win or lose. Sure it´s nice if you win but just having a good time can already be enough to enjoy yourself, it also leaves negative emotions like jealousy out of the game. But when you play with strangers things go wrong much easier, when this stranger keeps killing you in the game or if he or she constantly wins then that puts frustration in your game experience. Now that´s not a good thing, I don´t suggest to cheer for that person but it wouldn´t hurt to move on to another match or play a different game. It´s not smart to focus too much on one game, especially when the stakes are high you´ll often lose your cool a lot faster.
Sometimes I see videos of people on youtube that are quite funny or amazing, but instead of wishing that I could do that I just play games the way I enjoy it. It´s not a good thing trying to be just like someone else, try to make your own mark on the world and hopefully that will lead you to succes. Unfortunately we can´t all be victorious, but that doesn´t mean that we can´t all have a good time! Sometimes you just have to take things as they are, when you play a game there will always be a winner and there will always be a loser. Nobody wins all the time and you actually learn from losing, so there is no need to be jealous but just try to do better in the next game!
