Buying the exact same game for the new consoles
It seems silly, to buy the exact same game that you have on your Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 but now for the Xbox One and Playstation 4. Some would say that this is a waste of money, but for others this is a must because they don´t want to miss out on this game. But is it really that silly?
Last year when the Xbox One and Playstation 4 launch was pretty close to the release of certain games it was a difficult choice for some people to pick the right game. Because you don´t want to buy the Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 version if you´re going to upgrade to the new consoles. But the Xbox One didn´t launch everywhere, in some countries it will launch next month on the 4th of September. So this means that some people that have the Xbox 360 version of certain games might want to upgrade that game to the Xbox One version. But is that reallly a smart thing to do? For example CoD Ghosts will only last for a couple of more months until CoD AW comes out, the same can be said about Assassin´s Creed IV because AC Unity and AC Rogue are launching in just a couple of months.
So it all depends on timing? Yes, but I do think it also helps when you keep your multiplayer progress and it would even be better if you could also carry your achievements/trophies over to the next gen version of the game. Unfortunately that´s not the case, but you keep your multiplayer progress in some games so that´s nice. But the point is that a lot of Xbox 360 players that want to buy the Xbox One are probably not going to switch to Xbox One versions of their Xbox 360 games and why would they? Well maybe Titanfall will get some support with that, because it´s a fun online multiplayer first person shooter, but I wouldn´t want to buy a game I already own for just a couple of months of fun while there are plenty of games that are available on the new consoles. There are also a lot of interesting games launching in the next couple of months, so it might be a good idea to save your money for that!
But with all that being said, I must admit that I´ve done it multiple times myself. Not only did I buy the same game for a different console, I´ve also bought the console version of a pc game eventhough I already have the pc version of that game. I guess that makes me a bit silly or stupid if you want to call me that, but sometimes when a game is a lot of fun then you do things like this and it does show how much you like that game! Games I bought multiple times are the legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Resident Evil, Fable and Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. It might surprise you but I never had any regrets of buying these games for different consoles or even buying it twice for the pc and console. But does it really matter? As long as you´re having fun then I´d say it doesn´t.
