The final battle?

Some people say that fighting games are just like certain first person shooters (CoD to name one) because every year there is another game and nothing really changes. This might be true for some games, for example Street Fighter 4 came out several times and usually just with some extra characters and let´s not forget about Marvel vs Capcom 3! But other fighting games only appear once every 3 to 4 years, for example Tekken doesn´t appear every year and the new Tekken (number 7) is supposed to be the last one. At least they call it the final battle, what that really means remains to be seen!

How can anyone play fighting games? I guess some people wonder the same thing when it comes to role playing games or first person shooters, to name some other popular genres. My problem with fighting games is that I get frustrated and annoyed with it quite fast, which means I´m not having fun and I don´t really want to play anymore. So that seems like a waste of money to me, but I don´t find it difficult to believe that some people love fighting games and have a lot of fun with that. People that make fun of fighting games because they have no real story probably have never checked your average first person shooter because there isn´t much of a story in those game and even when there is then nobody plays it because people are too busy shouting and killing eachother in multiplayer!

This one on one thing is quite confrontational, isn´t it? You could compare it to a 1vs 1 in a first person shooter, but this time it will take more than just quick reflexes or camping to make the life of the other player a living hell. With fighting games it really helps when you know the moves and the moves of the other character (the one your opponent is using). Just don´t be surprised if people keep using the same trick or hide in a corner waiting for the other to make the first move. Also there are a lot of people that rage quit when they´re losing or just lost, so it might not always be easy to claim an actual online victory.

So what is this about the last Tekken game? Well Tekken 7 seems to go back to where things went wrong or how this all started, then you also see that they call this the final battle so that could mean the last Tekken game or just the last that has these characters in the main roles. It would be a bold move if this truly is the last Tekken game, because it´s definately a shame if they would stop.
