Goodbye classic first person shooter?
With new games like Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and Titanfall I can´t help but wonder what kind of effect this will have on other first person shooters. Because if games like that are succesful then other developers won´t sit still and stick to the same old stuff or will they?
Isn´t this what the people want? I think CoD gets the most hate out of all the first person shooters, most arguments (if one could call them that) are based on the never changing way of playing the game. But that´s changed with CoD AW, because you´re faster and stronger than before! You have a special armor on that will enhance your powers and grant you new abilities, for example a jetpack to reach higher places or a special glove that allows you to climb on certain walls. Some people are excited about this but then there are also a lot of people that hate this, they whine that they want the old CoD back. Seriously? So one moment everyone hates the same old shit and now people whine that they don´t want this new stuff, make up your fucking mind!
So all new first person shooters are turbo charged? Well not all of them, when I look at Battlefield: Hardline I see a lot of stuff you´d expect in a first person shooter. Of course there are cool gadgets that help you and give you other ways to move around but it´s still the same type of first person shooter. Except they´re now on a type of cops vs robbers idea which looks cool by the way! So if you´re not into futuristic stuff and just want your classic first person shooter then you have a game that will deliver you that.
This new CoD game will be deciding the fate of future first person shooters? I don´t think so, even if CoD is an important player in the fps genre it´s not going to decide all that because there are a lot of people that play other first person shooters. Besides if CoD AW is going to be a fail then that will most likely be the end of that idea, but if it´s going to be a succes then you can expect more of that. In a way the gamers will decide the future, unfortunately it´s going to be the majority that decides so unless you have a lot of friends or if you have a lot of influence in the gaming community I´d say you´ll just have to sit and wait!
