One console to rule them all?
It seems like there have always been console wars, well maybe not from the start but Nintendo and Sega didn´t really get along that well in the early years. But without communication systems we have now it wasn´t a big deal in those days. Maybe some kids talked shit about other kids that played on another console but to most kids back then they were all nerds! But now gaming is cool, hell you´re even considered as a loser if you don´t play games (yes that suprised me as well), and people play games a lot! Unfortunately with our modern communication technology people also find ways to reach others all over the world and what do they talk about? My console is better than yours! Sigh...
Is one console really better than the others? I guess if you look at what a console can do then one will most likely be better than the other, but I don´t think that´s what it´s all about. No matter how cool your console is, if the games on that console are lame then who really cares that it looks sweet or runs fast on your console? On that point I think that all consoles have their own awesome games, for example: Sony has the last of us, Microsoft has Halo, Nintendo has Mario. Of course they have many more games that are exclusive to their console but if I would list all those then I could stop here. The point is that one console isn´t better than the other, they´re all different systems that give you different games and hopefull different experiences. Of course there are also a lot of games that are available on multiple platforms, but the real reason why you would buy another console or just go for one console is for the exclusives. At least that would be my motivation, because I don´t need another console because that one game looks a little bit better.
So no console would ever be the king of all other consoles? Perhaps some of the fans would call it the best or for a limited amount of time it could be considered as that but it would never last. Technology keeps changing and what´s new right now is old soon enough. I think pc gamers know that all too well. Talking about pc gamers, they´ll probably see the pc as the ultimate system and I´d say that they have a point with that. Because you can upgrade your pc but once you have a console then you´re stuck with the technology for a couple of years. Which isn´t that bad in my opinion and I´d trade that keyboard and mouse in for a controller every day! It´s all about your preference, what you like and what others like. We don´t all like the same thing, which is actually a good thing because if we would all like the same stuff then the world would be boring. Instead of fighting these ridiculous console wars we could just enjoy playing games, why waste time talking shit about other consoles when you could be playing on the console you seem to praise?
Why can´t we be friends? It´s a good song and it´s a good question, why can´t we all just get along? I don´t hate pc gamers, I don´t dislike Nintendo gamers and I certainly don´t wish bad things to Sony gamers. Hell I´ve been a Nintendo gamer almost half my life, played on the Sony consoles for a good amount of time and I also have my fair share of pc gaming in my past and most likely in my future. I don´t say that we should all play on all the consoles, but just because you choose something else and play something else than other people then that doesn´t make them stupid. Nintendo and Sega aren´t enemies anymore, Sonic has showed up in Mario games and they seem to get along! Maybe it´s time that gamers did the same thing, you don´t have to become friends with people that play on other consoles or the pc but you can respect eachother. I think that most people that play games do this because they like to play games and think that it´s fun, so maybe it´s a good idea to stick to that and not get involved in retarded discussions online about which console is better.
