Looking back at.....the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion!

This was my first game for the Xbox 360, I still don´t know why I picked this game with the console because it would make more sense that I picked a game that also had a nice multiplayer so if friends would come over we could still play together. But somehow I picked a single player game that was a mystery to me, I only heard some things about this this game and nothing that really made me want to buy it. Still I picked this game because it looks interesting and I like that you can play the game the way you want to. You can pick your own gender, race and class. So I was curious how this would work out on a console because usually you see these type of games (rpg) on the pc. Well I can say that I wasn´t disappointed!

So what do you do in this game? First of all you´re in prison, but you manage to escape when the emperor and his guards need to make use of the secret escape route hidden in your cell. You take a different route but end up meeting them again, somehow the emperor trusts you and he tells you that you´re going to be important. Well at that point you don´t really care, you just want to get out of the sewer! Things go badly quickly from that moment and it´s up to you to save the world, to keep the plot of the story a bit of a mystery. I can say that it´s fun and definately worth checking out if you haven´t done so already!

How long does it take you to beat the game? If you´re talking just about the story missions then it´s not that long, but the thing is that there is so much more to do in this game. There are so many side missions and not some boring bullshit but actually fun and entertaining quests! You can join factions like the thieves guild or the dark brotherhood, which offers new stories and missions that help you explore more of the world and get involved deeper with the citizens that live in this world. You can focus on being a warrior, a rogue or a mage. But before that you can actually choose what your profession is, which means you have a bit of an advance on skills you might want to learn. So there is so much to this game that you´ll be busy for quite some time, I think it´s safe to say that you won´t get bored just like that!

Is Oblivion better than Skyrim? I think most people will say that Skyrim is better and that´s probably true, I mean Skyrim also launched about five years after Oblivion so most things look and are better in Skyrim. But that doesn´t make Oblivion a bad game, I think Oblivion allowed a lot of people to become familiar with the Elder Scrolls games and that definately made a lot of them a fan! Withough Oblivion no Skyrim, I guess you can see it like that. I also like Skyrim more but I still hold a lot of love for this game, because it´s a lot of fun to play and it´s one of the few games I actually perfected. Which is always a good thing for me!
