Nudity in games, is it really necessary?
In some countries this is much worse than violence and in other countries it´s just not accepted. Which makes sense if it would be a game for everyone but as long as you make that game for 18+ gamers then it shouldn´t be a problem, right? ´
Well it´s not that simple, because a lot of kids play games that are made for adults. Trying to keep kids from playing these games is near impossible because somehow they always get their hands on them. I think a lot of CoD players are familiar with kids that play a game made for adults. To be honest I also played games made for adults when I was a teenager, but when a game is for a 16 year old teenager and I´m 15 I don´t see the problem. Of course rules are rules and yes to make such exceptions is probably not a good idea if you want everyone to stick to the rules. But once again it´s just impossible to make everyone follow the rules because there is no way you can check if kids play games made for adults without breaking some privacy rules. So in a way kids keep some developers from making certain games too violent and definately keep sex and/or nudity out of games.
So games can´t have too much sex or violence because of kids? I don´t think that´s the main reason but they´ll certainly mention that, but I think that parents should know what type of games their kids play! The problem with nudity is that you don´t always see it coming, sometimes you think you´re playing a first person shooter and the other moment a topless woman is sitting on you riding you like a...well I think you got the idea. I don´t mind that, it´s a nice distraction but I can imagine that some people aren´t happy with that. Maybe some parents are shocked that they put stuff like this in games, but then again Far Cry 3 isn´t made for kids! But also girls might not like moments like these, maybe some find it funny but I can imagine that not everyone is happy to see that.
Nudity should be forbidden? That´s a bit extreme, I think if you put a warning on the box then people know that they can expect that in a game. So when a parent checks the box and sees that there is nudity in the game then it´s up to him or her if he or she lets the kid play the game. Also other people can decide if they want to play that game, if you don´t like nudity then don´t play games that warn you that there is nudity in it. But let´s be honest, most games are quite limited to these moments, maybe there is a bit of nudity in some games but this is hardly worth the noise it makes sometimes in a community. It might not always be necessary but it´s a natural thing and it´s not like you poison the minds of people with nudity! Besides you can always look the other way if it´s too much for you.
