Super heroes unite!
I think you´d have to be living under a rock if you didn´t notice the super hero popularity in the last decade. A lot of movies, comics, cartoons and also games have made it very popular for a lot of people. But what´s so interesting about super heroes?
We all want to be a hero? I wouldn´t say that everyone wants that, but I think there is a part of us that likes to be the hero. Save the girl, do something amazing and be adored by others. It seems cool when you think of it, but then there is that part where great powers come with great responsibility. Of course let´s not forget the part where that´s fantasy and this is reality, for as far as I know. It would be awesome if you could fly, have super strength or have elemental powers. But so far that´s just fantasy, maybe some day in the future that can be reality but I doubt any of us will be around then. So all we have are the movies, comics, cartoons and games. Which is of course cool as well, because a lot of people can have a lot of fun with that. But don´t think that there aren´t heroes, I mean look at firemen that save lives every day. Policemen that protect others risking their own life or what about a single mother that works hard and yet still spends every moment she has free with her kids to give them a happy life. I´d say they´re heroes as well, maybe not as super as the one from the movies and all that but still quite impressive!
If super heroes are cool and the movies, comics and cartoons are great then why do so many of the super hero games suck? The biggest problem with that is that a lot of super hero games are based on a super hero movie and as you know a lot of games that are based on a movie are usually not that good. Often because they´re rushed, so the release date of the game is close to the release date of the movie, and because they´re just made to make some extra money. I don´t say all games are like that, sure they earn money for some people but that´s not all that there is to it. Sometimes there are games that are made with so much detail and love that you gladly pay money to play it, while other games can be so bad that you regret ever thinking of buying and playing it. So super hero games are all bad? No that isn´t true, because I´ve played some games that are actually fun. I think the Lego super hero games are a lot of fun, it´s simple and yet quite good. It doesn´t always have to be something comlex, just make something simple that works and then try to make it interesting. But also the Batman Arkham games are amazing, I think it´s safe to say that these games are my favourite super hero games.
I don´t know how long the super hero popularity will last, but I don´t mind it at all to be honest with you. I just hope that the super hero games will be a bit better, don´t rush them but let them stand on their own feet instead of hoping to get support from the movie. I know it´s not always easy, just look at Superman games, but at least do what you can and try to make the most of what you have. It´s easy trying to cash in with something simple, but it´s difficult to leave gamers amazed and wanting for more.
