It´s quiet just before the storm
After the holidays it´s almost as if things are back to normal, there aren´t any big releases at the moment and we all seem to dive into games we bought earlier. Some of us play multiplayer games and spend time in that sometimes harsh environment, but others play single player games and try to complete what they can before the next big release. It´s nice to have moments like these, where you can relax and enjoy the games you bought or got from someone else. What I like about this time is that it gives you time to finish whatever game you haven´t finished and yet the time of no big releases isn´t as big as it is in Summer. Sometimes there are exceptions, big titles that launch in January or February, but often you get till March until something interesting launches.
So what games are launching and are worth noticing? I think the one game so many people are looking forward to is Titanfall, I think that this game has some high expectations and that isn´t always a good thing. Sure it´s nice that there is a game out there that can draw so much attention to it, but that also means that a lot of people will have high expectations of it. Something not every game can deliver, of course you can´t make everone happy and I doubt that there are developers that actually try to do that. It´s often the majority that developers aim for, trying to please everyone is just an impossible task. After hearing some news about that there are only a maximum of twelve players at once online in one match, a lot of players already started to dislike the game. Of course this doesn´t suprise me, the things some people will say about a game and then eventually end up playing it afterall is nothing new.
Another thing that is also nothing new is games that got delayed in the previous year and then get pushed to early in the next year, in a way this isn´t a bad thing but of course you prefer to play a game as fast as possible. But let´s not forget that a game that is delayed often is a work in progress, which means that it´s better that they first fix that instead of launching it and selling people a game full of bugs. If you´re not a fan of some quiet time then a delayed game can be perfect for you, this way you have something to play in January or February just before the big launches start again. Unfortunately not every game finds itself in those early months of the year. Just look at Watch Dogs, which was supposed to be launched already but is now pushed to Spring 2014. You can´t always win with this, but it gives you more time to play the games you already have. Which can be a good thing or a bad thing, it really depends on how you look at it.
