You know you´re a camper when...

In a lot of games these are probably the most hated type of gamers, I´m talking about that lovable lazy guy or girl that waits for you to come to him or her. Why are campers so hated? Because a lot of people don´t respect them, they consider their tactics as a cheap trick and find it annoying when they constantly get killed by this person. Often a camper will count on a vengeful player that will keep attacking him or her so a camper can get multiple kills on the same person. But not every camper is skilled, sometimes it´s easy to defeat them and it´s not suprising to see them rage quit when their tactic fails in a match. But is it all about winning? I don´t know, I can´t say I´m that familiar with campers and it´s a tactic I don´t use. I wouldn´t call campers the scum of the Earth but really it´s not a lot of fun to play against people who only do that, because they just suck the fun out of every match. Still that doesn´t keep people from doing it, some die hard campers move from the first second in the game to their little camping spot and won´t move until they find a better spot or they get killed.




How do you recognize a camper?


* A camper usually sits still in the same spot, there is little to no movement on their part.


* Campers sometimes mute other players which is often necessary because of all the hate they get.


* You´ll often find a camper sitting somewhere alone but some have a buddy that helps him or her.


* Some campers are so proud of what they do that they mention it in their gamertag or profile.


* Campers usually stay long in a lobby for as long as they have succes, which adds some extra frustration to other players.




Things you might not know about campers.


- Some campers move to different spots in the same area to constantly catch other players off guard.


- Campers don´t always work solo, some have friends that camp with them or spot for them.


- There are campers that try to make you mad, so you lose your focus and you become an easier target.


- A lot of campers already aim down their sights, so it´s difficult to beat them in a direct confrontation.




So how do you beat campers? A camper is someone you probably want to ignore, because they count on you to attack them and move towards them. If you deny them that then that means they´ll have to move to get some action, which is a chance for other players and you to get them. Some are quite patient and can sit for a long time, so don´t expect this to happen in every match when you encounter campers. A good way to flush them out is to use explosives, if you´re got at throwing or you have a rocket launcher or grenade launcher then that can definately help you. But the best way is really to ignore them, they´re not worth your time if you just want to have fun.


I guess it´s no secret that I´m not a big fan of campers, but that doesn´t mean that I don´t understand why they do what they do. In some cases I can even sympathize with some of them, because if you keep getting killed by others when you move around then it´s not so strange that you prefer to just hold one spot. Especially when this happens a lot, I mean we all want to have a good time and it´s difficult if people keep defeating you. If you lack quick reflexes and you don´t have a good aim then it´s a lot safer to camp. But that doesn´t mean that every camper has no skill, oh no some have a lot of skill and yet they prefer to go for easy kills. Why? Ah who knows, we all have our own reasons and that´s quite alright. It´s just annoying when in every match there is at least one camper that ruins the fun of others, maybe that´s not always their intention but it´s quite annoying if you have to go through that bullshit in every match. A camper might be the most hated type of gamer but is sometimes also the most succesful type of gamer, it´s sad but true.
