Humiliation, how much can you take?
I´d say the average person doens´t like to be humiliated, well there are some that get turned on by such things but I´ll spare you the details of such strange things. When you play a game then you don´t want to be humiliated, sure among friends it can be funny but with strangers it´s often annoying when you´re the victim of being humiliated. Humiliation is usually one of the main reasons why people rage quit or get mad in a game, but what would you consider to be humiliating?
When I play a game of CoD then there is always a good chance to meet kids, you know the squeaky voice type that can barely look what´s on the table. When these kids constantly camp and slaughter you then that´s frustrating, but I can definately see how people feel humiliated in such a situation because most adults don´t want to be beaten by a kid. There are also guys that feel humiliated when a girl beats them, still that´s not something you always know at the time so I doubt that even people who consider that to be humiliating don´t always know that at the time. Well some profiles do clearly state that the person is a girl or you can hear it, but let´s not forget that some kids have high pitched voices so it´s easy to mistake a kid for a girl sometimes. Unless the kid is a girl, but I seem to go on and on without actually getting to a point.
What´s important is that some people don´t want to humiliate, sometimes someone is just better than you and if you´re beaten pretty badly then that sucks. Of course there are also people that do like to humiliate others, teabagging is probably one of the favourite ways of doing that. Something you see a lot in the Halo games but not so much in the CoD and Battlefield games. Well there is that field order in CoD Ghosts where you have to humiliate an opponent (which means teabagging). But what´s teabagging and why is it so humiliating? For those of you who are unfamiliar with this, teabagging is when someone squats and stands up with his character on top of the corpse of your character. In a way it´s him (I think women have another word for that when they do that, with them not having...ah you know what I mean) putting his junk in your dead face, so I can´t imagine anything pleasant about that and thus it´s considered as humiliating because you´re there waiting to respawn and he is messing around. But what I personally consider humiliating about that is that some immature loser killed you in the game and now you have to watch him doing his retarded dance on your corpse, quite unpleasant. The respawn in Halo matches usually takes several seconds so you´re often forced to watch that unless you can spawn directly or you quit the game.
How much can you take, before you break? I´d say that really depends on the player, some get angry over the slightest thing and others can take a whole lot of crap before they even make a noise. The best way to deal with people that annoy you is mute and block them, that way you don´t have to hear them and you don´t get any pathetic messages. Of course that still means you have to deal with them in the game, the best thing you can do is to do your thing and not run after them like a madman. If people keep humiliating you then you can ask them why they do it or just ignore it, never give them the rage they so desperately want from you. If you do feel like you´re losing it, then it´s probably a good idea to leave the game. Don´t force yourself to stay in a game that drives you mad, because there is only that much you can take before you break!
