Was 2017 a good year for gamers?
I think it was, mostly because of the amount of fun games that we could play. Of course not every game that launched was good and there are definitely games I didn't like but that still makes 2017 one of the best years for me as a gamer. It was also a year where I tried different games and kind of went away from my typical shooter and survival horror type of games into different games. Which is something I can recommend, just playing the same type of games all the time is boring and honestly you're missing out!
This year gave us a lot of games?
Absolutely! Already starting in January with Resident Evil 7 and even in moments of the year when I didn't expect any fun games to launch we got some nice titles in Summer as well. For example Fortnite was a fun game at first and I definitely enjoyed playing that game in July and August. It's just a shame that some games become worse over time, probably not just because of the game but also because of the community or the lack of that. There wasn't a month that I got bored, not a moment that I felt like I didn't know which game I wanted to play and even if I played all the new games I wanted to play there would always be another game waiting for me. I actually had to pass on certain games because I just didn't have the time and money to play all those games. Which is a shame but perhaps it's better this way, because if you play games all the time then that's not really a healthy way of living!
Trying out new games?
In 2017 I played a lot of different games, not just my favourite genres but also completely different games. I started with survival horror but switched to a tactical shooter, Ghost Recon Wildlands, then there was Mass Effect Andromeda for some space RPG adventures and Injustice 2 for some fighting action with some of my favourite DC heroes and villains. Fortnite brought some tactical building and shooting fun while Agents of Mayhem just brought absolute chaos on your screen which was fun as long as the game worked. Some more spooky adventures with the Evil Within 2 and of course the journey into the unknown with Destiny 2. CoD WW 2 gave us the classic experience within CoD but with everything looking pretty sweet and also absolutely brutal. With the Sims 4 I could calm down and build a house and fuck around, almost literally in that game, a bit which is fun as long as the game is working. This is just a grasp of some of the games I played in 2017 and it made me switch between different type of games and gameplay, which can be a bit confusing at time but it's absolutely fun to switch it up a bit. If I would be playing survival horror games or just first person shooters then that would be boring. I'm glad that I switched things up because that makes the gaming experience so much more fun!
Can 2018 beat 2017 with the games that will come out next year?
I think that 2018 will be a good year for gamers, so far I've already seen some really interesting games that I want to play and of course a lot more will launch and sometimes you get pleasant surprises, let's just hope that the majority of those surprises stay pleasant. But it will be a tough to beat this year with all the awesome games that came out and that means that 2018 will have to step up and bring us a lot of good games. Let's hope it will be just as good, if not better, and also offer us a lot of new and diverse games. I think that 2017 is quite a memorable year and I truly enjoyed playing games in 2017, it wasn't all good but the majority of the games that I played I enjoyed and I think that makes 2017 already a good year for me. But it also helped me discover a lot of games and get in touch with games I forgot about. I don't know what 2018 will bring gamers but I just hope it will be good and with some luck it will be even better than 2017!
