Going back to old(er) games?
Whenever I have a moment of no new games or I'm kind of tired of playing the latest games I like to go back to some older games I played. This could be a game that is just a couple of years old and sometimes it's a game than is more than a decade old. Unfortunately with old(er) games it often requires the right console unless you have backwards compatibility or your pc can run the game without any issues. I love playing old(er) games around Christmas, it's a time of nostalgia for me so it makes sense to play some of the games I played before.
Never throw away or sell your old games?
Well never say never because if you would hold on to every game you ever bought then you might be running out of space sooner or later. But games you like to play so much are worth holding on to. Sometimes you get lucky and a game gets a remastered edition or if you're truly lucky a remake. Resident Evil is a good example of that and it's absolutely worth playing even twenty years after the game launched. The problem is that only the popular games often get a remastered edition or remake, so that means that less popular games are most likely not going to get that. Which sucks but this is why it's important to hold on to those games that you value so much. Of course you can't hold on to every game so you might have to make some difficult decisions.
Why play those old(er) games now?
For me it's because I get this feeling of nostalgia around Christmas, which makes playing these old(er) games so much fun. Sometimes this already starts and October and as much as I want to play these games already I deliberately wait till December and then play all the old(er) games that I want to play. It's such a great feeling to dive back into your memories and play through those awesome moments you enjoyed so much the first time. Maybe it's just me but around Christmas this feeling becomes the strongest for me and so the desire to play these old(er) games is something I can't deny any longer. Of course there are new games that are worth playing as well but I don't get those nostalgic feelings from that and I think that fits better with Christmas. So I prefer to play old(er) games now and save the new games for later.
