A bad ending ruins the entire game?

Is there anything worse than having a terrible ending to a game you love? Ok there are worse things but this is pretty bad as well. I honestly hate it when you play through an entire game and it just disappoints you at the end. It's like you got slapped in the face after a romantic evening with someone. It hurts, a lot!

A bad ending ruins the entire game?

I think it does because when you put so much time and effort into a game and to only see it fall apart at the end hurts. Just look at Mass Effect 3. I know this is a game that has been discussed a lot and I also know some people do like the ending. But for me it was such a rough experience because I put so much time and effort in all three games and to see it end like that. It felt like an insult to me, for having spend so much time in the game and then have no ending I was happy with. I understand there are different endings but to have each outcome be so much close to the other and pretty much coming down to the same conclusion is really lame in my opinion. What made that so much worse is that it wasn't just for one game but the experience I had from three games total and to see it end like that was like a kick in the balls and that still feels like an understatement even now several years later. This doesn't mean that I consider the previous Mass Effect games as bad, I still enjoy playing those and I also like playing Mass Effect 3 but towards the end I just feel miserable. I know we can't always get the happy ending but this just felt so lame to me, to be cheated out of a good ending or at least a satisfying ending. All the things you said and did suddenly feel so empty, that probably hurts the most. Sometimes people also hate endings eventhough you could pretty much see where it was going, especially in a game that is a prequel. Because then you know how it will end and yet people are still upset. I think that at this point you should keep in mind that things can't be different than what the story is, just because you play a prequel it's not like you would get a completely different story. Maybe that's what upset some people when they played Life is Strage Before the storm. They wanted it to end different and maybe avoid what happened or should I say what they discovered in Life is Strange. But I think most of us already knew what would happen and as much as it hurts it couldn't be avoided. Did that ruin the entire game? Well not to me, I love Life is Strange Before the storm and yeah the last scene does suck but to be honest I think everyone that played Life is Strange knew that this would happen, they might not expect to see it though.

The ending is the most important part?

I don't think it is because the ending is important but it's not the most important part. I prefer the beginning and body (as in the centre) of the story because that builds things up, it's the job of the ending to stick it to a good landing or make a bridge to another story or should I say game. So the ending of a game or anything else that has a story in it is definitely important and should be handled with great care. You don't want to leave people with an unsatisfied ending because that sucks. That doesn't mean it can always be a good ending but at least make it an ending that fits. So don't go into something ridiculous because as much as people like good endings it's not fun to see things take a fantasy turn just to avoid the cold hard truth. Of course I would love to see the hero of the game be happy, but sometimes bad things happen and not every ending can be a happy ending. Then at least try to make it a hopeful ending, and ending that at least gives some comfort and can make you feel better even if you feel like shit. So an ending isn't the most important part but definitely a part that should never be underestimated because it will most likely be remembered the most of a game, movie or book.
