A loot box system for every game?
I don't know a lot of people that are happy with the loot boxes, sure some people will buy loot boxes every now and then, for example in Overwatch during an event, but usually most people aren't comfortable with the loot box system and just want things to be different. Of course that's easier said than done, especially if you look at the latest popular games that all seem to have a type of loot box system. Can we ever get rid of loot boxes or will loot boxes be in all future games? Let's find out!
How can something be added when it's hated by so many?
That's really the question isn't it? Because just looking at the whole Star Wars Battlefront 2 disaster with their loot box system which is pay to win you would think that other developers would slow down or just cancel their loot box systems but unfortunately you would be mistaken to think that. A lot of games hold on to a certain loot box system and they don't see the issue with it. I guess if you earn a lot of money from players because of such a system then I'd probably not see a problem with it either but there definitely are issues with the loot box system. My biggest problem with the loot box system is that you never know what you get, which might seem interesting to some but imagine opening a hundred loot boxes and still not get the one thing you really want. I think that's enough reason to hate the loot box system. But the truth is that loot boxes bring in a lot of money because a lot of people buy loot boxes and this means big business for the company and thus it's a good reason for them to add it into the game. That some gamers hate it is apparently not that important or they'll try to give away some free stuff to shut them up or somehow appeal to them. But the fact remains that loot boxes are hated and yet still added to games.
What's so bad about loot boxes?
The one thing I hate the most is how loot boxes can really screw you over. You could buy hundreds of loot boxes and never get the things you want. In Overwatch and CoD WW 2 is a currency that helps you buy items you can't seem to get from loot boxes but I think most people would rather just be able to unlock them with leveling up or by doing certain actions in the game to unlock them. But I guess the gamble boxes, because that's probably a better name for the loot boxes, are too good to give up on. I mean the average gamer might spend about ten Dollars or Euros on that. Which might not seem that much but add that up to all the people playing and paying and you end up having a lot of money! I think it's much better to have a system in a game that lets you earn rewards and not hand them out randomly in a loot box. This means you know exactly how you can earn a certain reward and it should allow most people to get this reward, as long as you don't have to do anything too difficult. Loot boxes are just too unpredictable and can truly drain players of a lot of money if they keep throwing money at it. I heard a story about someone spending more than 10.000 Dollar on loot boxes, that's insane but unfortunately something that happened. You can say that this was his own fault but loot boxes are a type of gambling and gambling an be addictive for some people. So maybe less loot boxes and so you have less chances on addiction to these loot boxes. There are already several countries in the world where they're trying to get rid of loot boxes but I wonder if this will be the end of the loot boxes. Right now they just earn companies way too much money to give up on them. So it wouldn't surprise me that in the future we'll see even more loot boxes in games and I can't say I'm happy about that.
