Friday the 13th game is broken?

I was really excited about this game, not only because of the idea (play as Jason and hunt down the counselors or as one of the counselors try to survive while you're being hunted by Jason) in this game but also because of the videos I saw on YouTube. The game looks like a lot of fun and so when I finally bought it this weekend I was in for a nasty surprise, it doesn't work! What's wrong with the game? From my experience matchmaking in the game on the Xbox One is completely broken. I don't know if it's the same for Playstation 4 and pc gamers. When you click on quickplay for a match you can wait for twenty minutes and still not get into a match, yes I actually waited that long just to see if I would get a match eventually. But the connectivity with this game is also very unstable. On Sunday I could barely get connected with the game server, which meant I couldn't even get into the main menu. The only time I actually got into a match it was laggy and event...

Movie Monday: The Lego Batman movie

Are you ever too old for Lego movies, well maybe for some Lego movies but not for the Lego Batman movie! This is the type of movie that isn't just fun to watch, it's hilarious! A movie that doesn't take itself too serious and isn't afraid to do some crazy things, but at the same time keep the story and characters interesting. Not bad for a Lego movie, I'd say some movies could learn a thing or two from this movie! Best Batman is Lego Batman? There have been a lot of actors that played the role of Batman and most of them weren't even bad, yes  that even includes the weird movies Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, but you have to admit that Will Arnett is an amazing Batman. Ok he just does the voice but he does it well! Eventhough his Batman is a bit of a dick he does have his charm and in this movie Batman discovers that things can be better and that he can be a better person. Of course that doesn't mean he learns this right away, no that goes through...

Sinful Sunday: Making certain someone doesn't get an achievement or trophy

I hate multiplayer achievements, they require not just your skill but also the right situation provided by other people. Of course other people aren't going to give you that achievement, I definitely don't expect nor want them to do that, but there are also people that make certain you can't get a certain achievement. These people are going to be you biggest enemy if you want to get multiplayer achievements and there's very little you can do about that. Why do some people try to hinder you from getting an achievement? I don't think people always try to be an asshole, sometimes you just bump into eachother and that will then usually end badly for one of the two. It's also your job to defeat other people online, ok maybe not your job but other people on your team will expect you to do that. But there are also people that will go out of their way just to make certain that you don't get a certain achievement. I discovered this when playing as Sombra in Overw...

Far Cry 5 might be the best one so far?

I don't know about you but I like games that take place in more familiar environments. When I'm in a jungle or hanging around on a mountain then it couldn't be further away from my country, there are no jungles or mountains here. But now we have a Far Cry game that takes place in Montana, with farms and cows! Well we do have those here, so maybe this is the Far Cry game that is going to be the best one? At least that's my opinion. Junior sheriff in action? In Far Cry 5 you play as junior sheriff and have to deal with a cult that is causing for a lot of trouble in your county. There isn't much known about the character you play though, I've heard some people speculate that you can create your own character but I'm not so certain about that myself. It would be cool though, if you can fully customize your character then you can't complain that the character is lame unless you consider yourself as lame if you make him or her look like you! In Hope County...

YouTube adventures -62- To stream or not to stream?

Lately I've seen more and more people stream on YouTube, which is nice because it offers the subscribers and people that are new to the channel extra content. But as a YouTuber is it always a good idea to stream? So I can't help but wonder... Should I stream or not? The main reason why I don't stream games is because I don't think it will be that entertaining. I don't consider myself as a person who I interesting, so watching me play games is probably going to be lame. For a short video it should be ok, at least I hope so, but when you stream you usually put about an hour if not two of you playing a game or multiple games. I just don't see myself doing this because every time I play games there are frustrating moments for me and when I'm frustrated I say dumb things. Besides streamers are usually people that can talk for hours about all kinds of things, unless they have friends with them and then they'll probably spend time talking with them. I lik...

The long Summer awaits, how do you prepare?

As a gamer you often have to deal with a couple of months of no new games, sometimes there are new games but I can't say that most of these game get me excited. So how do you survive Summer? Well it helps if you prepare, because if you know what you want to do before it's Summer then it will be Autumn before you know it! What's wrong with Summer? Nothing really, as a kid I loved Summer and with my birthday being in Summer it was always a good time. But things change and now I hate Summer, mostly because of a lot of hot days and not a lot of things I can do during those hot days. So it's a good idea to play some games, have a cool drink with you and stick to the shade. I know that there are people that don't believe in climate change but seriously we get hot temperatures here in May, I mean 29 degrees Celsius in May seems a bit much for me! So maybe some people love this, I hate it! I'm a warm blooded person, I'm hardly ever cold so I don't need hot S...

Overwatch Anniversary event is a bit disappointing?

Just like many other people I played Overwatch, well I still play it but yesterday I was disappointed with the new event. Why? Because there is no new game mode, no new highlight intros or victory stances and all the dance emotes are only available during the event so this means either pay up some serious money to get them all or you'll have to accept that you're not getting a lot of those dance emotes. What's new in the event? You get three new maps, but they're only for the 1 vs 1 and 3 vs 3 game modes. Since I hate these game modes, they're full of people that are in groups, play extremely cowardly or rage quit the moment things don't go their way. Is that fun to play? Nope! At least not for a solo queue player. The new maps looks amazing though, so it's a real shame that this is only for these game modes because I would love to check them out more. You finally get the laugh and sitting animation for Sombra and also for Orisa. I also noticed that Reap...

Injustice 2 is the best fighting game?

I'm going to be honest with you, I don't like fighting games that much. I usually screw up the combos and that's when I actually remember a combo, I always seem to get upset really fast when it comes to fighting games and I don't see the fun in playing a fighting game for longer than a couple of days. So enough reason for me not to buy Injustice 2, but I actually did buy Injustice 2 and I don't regret a thing! What makes Injustice 2 so much fun to play? First of all it's all the heroes and villains in the game, I love the DC characters and to be able to play as so many of them is a lot of fun! But it's more than that, it's also the interactions between the characters and hilarious banter that comes from that. If you worry that you get tired of the game after beating the story, which is pretty good in my opinion, then there is still a lot of other things you can do! Of course there's multiplayer and you can do this local or online, so beating up y...

Movie Monday: The Fate of the Furious

Who would've thought that there would be seven other movies after the first movie? I didn't, I also didn't think I would watch them all but I actually did watch them. Did the movies get better? Well there were ups and downs with the movies but it's always a spectacular action movie with some humour in it. The Fate of the Furious isn't different, it's still an action movie with humour in it but you do miss one of the actors and I think we all know who that is. Does that make the Fate of the Furious a bad movie? Nope, not at all! No time to stop? The Fate of the Furious tells the story like a race, it's gotta be fast but before you know it you're watching a two hour movie. This doesn't bother me though because it's not like the movie gets boring or that there's nothing happening. Already from the start there's a race and it's a bit ridiculous but it looks really good! But it's not just a race with cars, it's also a race on f...

Sinful Sunday: Throwing a game

I'm not talking about literally throwing a game, eventhough that would be a dick move as well considering it's not your game and you damage it. Throwing a game means that you lose on purpose just to screw over other people in your team. In deathmatch this doesn't work but in team deathmatch or other type of team game modes it can be extremely frustrating. Why do people throw a game? The main reason is to be an asshole, because what better way to troll other people than making them lose constantly. In a game like Overwatch it happens quite often, especially in ranked mode where losing cost you points and it can even mean that you lose your rank (assuming you're in master, grand master or top 500 tiers). I'll never truly understand how some people consider this as funny because you make certain other people that you don't even know lose and this amuses someone? That doesn't make sense to me! Then there is the retaliation, when someone keeps whining or call...

Is Destiny 2 really an improvement?

I played Destiny from day one, I really enjoyed playing the game and I played it a lot! But then the raids, house of wolves arena and other things happened that kept me from getting the best stuff and reaching the highest and most powerful level. Not that this is super important but it's of course stupid if you can't play the entire game because there is no matchmaking system for these modes. It made me stop playing Destiny and I must admit that I wasn't really that excited about Destiny 2 when it got announced. But what if they have improved things, does that make you want to buy Destiny 2? Maybe... Raids for everyone? So one of my biggest issues with Destiny was not being able to play a raid, you would have to form a team on a website instead of just having the game form teams for you. I tried that but usually you come up short and people end up getting tired of waiting. But now you have a matchmaking system in Destiny 2 for raids. Even when four people from a clan jo...

YouTube adventures -61- Upload the video or not?

There are a lot of videos on YouTube, more than I can count and sometimes it makes you wonder about your own videos. It raises the question if your video is going to be good enough to be on YouTube. So I can't help but wonder sometimes... Upload the video or not? When I first started with YouTube I was always judging my own videos, I always looked at my videos and kept wondering if they would be good enough. I kept wondering if people would want to watch my videos and what they would think of it. So that kept me from uploading a lot of videos, mostly videos that weren't of great quality or where I think it was just not worth watching it. Sometimes there are also videos where I got really upset during the video and I prefer not to have my anger issues too much on video, not that I'm ashamed but there is no need to see some dumbass ranting about random stuff. I think there is already enough of that on YouTube. But I was wrong, it's not up to me to judge if a vi...

Overwatch celebration, almost a year of Overwatch!

I can hardly believe it, I've been playing this game for almost a year and I've had my ups and downs with this game. Often I have to take a break because the frustrations, mostly because of matchmaking or annoying players, are just too much and it's not fun to play a game when you're frustrated. But Overwatch is an impressive game, such a simple concept and yet there are thousands (maybe even millions) of people on the world that play the game and love it! What happened in the first year of Overwatch? A lot actually. I mean we've seen several events, some new heroes and also some new maps. The best thing is probably that it's all free, this isn't dlc you have to pay for but that you get when you own the game. First we got Ana, a hero that I like and sometimes I'm even decent with her but it's a high risk high reward type of hero that can be a lot of fun to play. After Ana we got the Summer Olympic games, a Summer event that introduced a new game ...

Red Dead Redemption 2 online, what I don't want to see!

If you played GTA V online then you know how annoying it can be, random douchebags that keep killing you for no reason at all. What's worse is that for most things that actually earn you a lot of money you need to play in a public lobby so there is no real escape from this unless you prefer to earn a lot less money in a private lobby. So hopefully Red Dead Redemption 2 online is going to be better, otherwise I don't see myself playing this game. What's wrong with GTA V online? The fact that there is no way to play in peace in a public lobby, because the game pretty much motivates you to kill other players. If you do a biker mission or CEO mission then the game will award other players for disrupting these, as if people wouldn't do that already now they also get rewards for that. The dumbest part is that you can't do these missions in a private lobby. You can do some biker missions, the ones from the wall in the meeting room, but those don't earn you a lot of...

Overwatch vs Paladins

I must admit that the first time I saw Paladins I couldn't help but think that it's a cheap copy of Overwatch and eventhough there are definitely some similarities they're not the same. I played both games and both games are fun to play, so whatever you prefer you don't make a bad choice. But why choose when you can play both games? What makes Overwatch so much fun to play? For me it's mostly the unique characters, every character plays different and there are more than twenty so you can imagine that this means you have a lot of things to try out. There are several game modes that you can try out and wether you like to mess around in arcade mode, train in quickplay or go into try hard mode in ranked it's usually fun to play. The least fun about Overwatch is usually other players that can be incredibly toxic or annoying. The customization in Overwatch is pretty cool as well, every hero has a lot of different skins, voice lines, victory poses, highlight intros...

Movie Monday: Ghost in the shell

I'll be honest with you, I've never seen the anime show the ghost in the shell so this movie was unknown territory for me. I don't even like anime that much but I was curious about this movie, so what do you do when you're curious? You check it out! In my opinion the movie is pretty good, I mean not amazing but still fun to watch if only for the one time. Major isn't a robot? In the opening credits you can aleady see what's going on, a human brain is put inside an artificial body and together they would be the perfect weapon. It's actually an impressive and interesting moment in the movie that does kind of make you wonder where we're going with technology. At first Major follows orders, she does what she's told and doesn't ask too many questions. But after some time things don't seem to be exactly as she thought they would be and it turns out the people she trusted are keeping something from her. So you can imagine that Major wants to fin...

Sinful Sunday: Solo queue hell

When none of your friends play the same games as you or play them on a different console then it often means you're in for some interesting matches. Enter the life of a solo queue player where one match can be good and the other terrible. It doesn't matter which game you play, certain things always stay the same! Solo queue is horrible? It can be, especially if you keep facing people in groups or clans. The amount of times when I had to face a group of friends or a clan as a member of a team of random people is more than I can remember and it would almost always end the way you would expect. Maybe some people are ok with that but I hate it, because it's not just unfair but also a waste of time. Often people on your team will already leave the game when they see that they face a group of friends or a clan, because they know that the chances to win aren't that big if your team doesn't communicate or work together. You would think that in solo queue there would be ...

Sequels we didn't ask for but got anyway

Certain games and movies are so good that they don't need a sequel, well maybe if you were certain that this sequel would be just as good or maybe even better than the first game or movie but there is no guarantee for that so I bet a lot of people would prefer not to see a sequel. Unfortunately we often do get that sequel and a lot of times it sucks! Why do we get a sequel? The easy answer is that it's an attempt to make more money of the same stuff. Why let something go when you can make so much more money with it? It makes sense, but the fans are often not that happy with this. Not only does this sometimes lead to some horrible sequels, it sometimes also taints the original game or movie. Of course it's great when the sequel is good, but do we really always need a sequel? No I don't think so! I mean look at the movie the Crow, an amazing movie and absolutely one of my favourites. I'm not even saying that the sequel was bad, but it didn't stand a chance aga...

YouTube adventures -60- Using toxic gamers for content

You have probably noticed the amount of toxic gamers in games these days, pretty much any game that has competitive multiplayer has them and the more popular a game is the more toxic gamers you can expect. So these last couple of months I've seen a big rise in videos where people record encounters with toxic players. This raises a question... Are toxic gamers good content? I have recorded several videos where you can hear how I get annoyed, but I always try to keep the worst out of the videos. As fun as it might be for some people I doubt that the majority is interested in hearing an idiot shout, curse and smash his controller on his chair. But to my surprise a lot of videos that show you toxic players at their worst do actually pretty good. What's interesting is that the person posting it isn't the toxic player but the person who play a game with a toxic player. I doubt that toxic players would post their own bad behaviour on YouTube but you never know, if people want ...

Games that ruin friendships

It's fun to play games with friends, it's usually double the fun but sometimes it's also double the frustration. If some random person online fucks you over you pretty much chalk it up as a bad moment but when your friends keep screwing you over then that is enough to start a vendetta. At that point it's not about who wins or who loses, it's about getting back at the person who screwed you over! Why would you play a game that makes you hate your friends? Well the good part is that it's usually just temporarily, so eventhough you might hate your friends while playing the game it usually doesn't last long. Besides if your friendship is so easily broken then it probably never was a good friendship. But let's be honest, isn't it fun to screw your friends over? I used to do that a lot in Goldeneye 64, I was such a cocky scumbag that I would let them 3 vs 1 me and I would still win. It did help that I was the only one with a Nintendo 64 and so I had a ...

The grind, is it worth it? (games)

In GTA Online you get double money and experience for biker missions, so lately I have been doing a lot of those missions. But the question is, is it really worth it? Well in a way it is because you get some good money and experience without having to play with other people. Unfortunately things get boring and repetitive really fast when you keep getting the same missions or when you keep getting missions that require you to have more people in your club, which means you'll have to wait some time for new missions. So is it worth it? I guess it really depends who you ask... Grinding in games is stupid? Some people do say that and I don't blame them. For someone who doesn't play games or doesn't like investing in games it probably is stupid. How can you put so many hours in a game just to get something that doesn't really matter? Well at the moment it seems like a good idea, but at the same time if it matters to you then that's enough reason to do some grindin...

Rockstar wants you to be an asshole in GTA V Online?

A lot of people prefer to play in private mode in GTA V Online. Why? Because there are a lot of annoying people that will constantly kill you for no reason and keep bothering you until you either rage quit or mess up their game experience by doing the same thing. You'd think that Rockstar would want people to have a fun experience with their game. Well I wonder how much of that is true... Rockstar wants you to be an asshole in GTA V Online? At first I thought that Rockstar was trying to help the community, keep the bad people out and keep the fun in. But then I see daily objectives, this helps you earn extra experience and money in the game, that want you to kill other people in GTA V Online. So in a way Rockstar is motivating you to be an asshole, because that gets you rewards and being a decent player doesn't get you a reward. Oh wait yes you get 2000 Dollar in the game for every couple of hours you don't behave like an asshole, but considering you already get 25.000 ...

Movie Monday: xXx: the return of Xander Cage

Who would have thought that Vin Diesel would return to the xXx movies? I definitely didn't, not that the first movie was bad but it seemed like it was a done deal and they moved on with another actor in the sequel. But sometimes these things happen and now in the third xXx movie you see Vin Diesel again as Xander Cage, but is that a good thing? More action, more crazy stunts? What I like about the xXx movies is the action and stunts, the crazy things that happen and eventhough some of them might be ridiculous to some people it still looks pretty cool. There's no lack of crazy stunts and explosive action in the third xXx movie, but does that also make it better than the previous movies? Well yes and no, mostly thanks to the clash between Xander and Xiang, the leader of a group of terrorists that are also capable of some crazy stunts, because that makes the movie more interesting than your average bad guy with a plan to threaten the world. Eventhough there is this doomsday de...

Sinful Sunday: Why are you angry?

When I play games I get angry, sometimes because of such little things that happen but that annoy the crap out of me! Maybe it's because I don't have a lot of patience or I just don't handle failures well, but the fact remains that the slightest things can piss me off. Which makes me wonder, why are people angry? It seems simple but sometimes there can be a whole story behind that or no story at all. You hate it when things go wrong? Games are great when things go right, you make progress and you get rewards. It's like nothing can touch you, but then it happens something goes wrong! It breaks you out of your peaceful state of mind and you scream at the tv screen, what the hell happened?!!! Some people just shrug and continue with what they're doing, but there are also people that immediately feel their anger swell up inside and get mad. It's the worst when you don't expect it and what happened to you is complete bullshit. For example an enemy that hits y...

Are most games worth 60 Dollars/Euros?

Whenever I buy a new game I first did a lot of research into that game. Why? Because I don't want to waste 60 Euros on a game I'm going to hate or a game I'm done with in just a couple of days. So yeah it's smart to know what kind of game you're buying and what you can expect. Researching a game is a waste of time? Maybe some people see it that way, I see researching a game as a way of preventing myself from buying a bad game or at least try to prevent that from happening. The worst thing with games is that you saved up some money to buy a game, you had to choose between several games you're interested in because you don't have enough money for all of them, and then it turns out that this game sucks or at least wasn't worth 60 Dollars/Euros. So if I can prevent that with doing some research into a game first then I don't mind that at all! It's important that you know what you're doing, just reading a review isn't enough. Because the r...

Freedom

Today is the fifth of May, in the Netherlands we celebrate our liberation from the Germans in World War II. But it's more than that, it's a day we celebrate our freedom as a nation, we're free to do and say what we want (of course there are things you can't do or say but that's how you keep the peace). Unfortunately we don't all realize that we're blessed to have this freedom, a lot of countries in the world don't have that and for them freedom is just a dream. But nothing is impossible, a lot of impossible things can become possible and it usually starts with someone having a dream. Freedom is precious! When I watch a movie, play games or walk with my dog outside I don't always realize it but I live in a free country. I don't have to be afraid to have an opinion and I can read the news that isn't controlled by the government. For some people this seems normal but there are a lot of countries, some closer than you think, that don't ha...

Survival horror games are scarier when you can't defend yourself?

Outlast 2 is a popular survival horror game and I'll admit that it's creepy, but my biggest issue with these type of games is that you can't defend yourself. Some people say that this is how survival horror games should be, but let's be honest if someone is trying to kill then you'll hide in a barrel or in long grass? No you will do whatever you can to survive, which means you would bite them, kick them, punch them or spit on them. But just being hit and not being able to do anything back is just stupid in my opinion. Survival horror is better when you can defend yourself? I think it is because it really sucks when you have no defense against enemies. When someone is grabbing someone you love then you're just going to stand there shouting or are you going to do something?!!! A game like Outlast 2 doesn't scare me, it pisses me off how useless I am and how it all comes down to me trying to run past enemies or sneak through an area with crappy sneak skills...
