YouTube adventures -55- Achievement/trophy guides are difficult to make?

You've probably looked up an achievement or trophy online, wether that was in the early days where you would have to read through a lot of text online or these days where there is a video that shows you how you get an achievement or trophy. It seems simple but in fact making a good achievement or trophy guide isn't that simple! Why? Because if you want to make a good guide, a helpful guide and above all an easy to understand guide that is straight to the point then that will require effort and I think most people would be more happy to keep it short and simple. Making an achievement or trophy guide. When my camera was starting to fail, as in could only record short moments of time, I knew I had to change things. I couldn't record my multiplayer matches anymore because nine out of ten times the last couple of minutes would then not be recorded. That's frustrating but at the same time pointed me towards other possibilities. Instead of being the rage/fail guy in multip...

Mass Effect Andromeda, one week later...

As you probably know a lot of people hate this game, how many of these people have actually played the game is unknown to me but it wouldn't surprise me if there are a lot of these haters that have never played the game. I think what you would like to know if Mass Effect Andromeda is worth buying. A short answer, yes it's worth buying but you should keep in mind that the game does have some issues and for some people that can be enough reason for not wanting to play it or not play it just yet. Mass Effect Andromeda has issues? Well that's an understatement, I mean just yesterday I tried to visit a new planet for the first time and  the cutscene got stuck. The eyes of the characters were moving but they were all in t pose standing there, that was actually quite hilarious but unfortunately it also broke the game. After waiting for almost a minute I decided to skip the scene and I went into a loading screen. Well that loading screen never ended, so I restarted my console a...

Who finishes games these days?

I have an unwritten rule when I play games, I always try to finish the game I'm playing at the moment before I start with a new game. Some exceptions are multiplayer games, but that's because multiplayer games are often just matches you play against other people and you're not really following a story. Whenever I get an achievement now for finishing the story I notice the percentage of people that have also finished the game and often this is much lower than I expected. So does this mean that not a lot of people finish games or they just take forever to beat a game? Finishing a game is a waste of time? I'm actually not surprised if some people feel that way. They don't care about achievements/trophies, they don't care about the story enough to sit through hours and hours of gameplay to see how it ends and apparently they don't care enough about the game to keep playing it longer than a day or two. I think the biggest problem for some people is that there...

Games can help you through a tough time?

When you're going through a tough time it's like the whole world is against you, which can be very depressing to say the least. Something I like to do during a tough time is to do something that makes me happy and for me that's playing games. But not multiplayer games just single player games with a big story and a lot of things to do. I'm happy to have Mass Effect Andromeda right now because I'm in need for some distraction! Games can make a difference? A friend of mine lost her father several years ago, it was a really tough time for her and she didn't go out much and didn't want to talk to anyone. But she did play a lot of Skyrim, somehow this game gave her comfort and made her feel less alone. This might seem odd to some people but I think that game might have actually helped her climb out of that depression. Because she did something she enjoyed and above all she wasn't every day confronted with the fact that her dad died. Maybe some will say...

Sinful Sunday: Why are you being a dick to other people?

The comment section on most sites is often bad, things that might start out nice will often turn ugly because some people prefer to be a dick instead of just being nice. Sometimes this is with responses and som people just post messages that they know will annoy others, because why not? You have every right to be a dick so why not be a dick? You're not online to make friends? When I first started playing online, it was in Guild Wars Factions in 2005, I wanted to meet other people and I loved being able to talk with other people. I would often meet other people in the courtyard of the starting area and talk with strangers. Some of them would actually be very nice and I made some friends. But these days it seems different, maybe I have changed but people online now don't seem to look for friends. In multiplayer people are just looking for team mates that don't suck and the moment things aren't going the way they like it they leave. This rage quitting is already one of...

Mass Effect Andromeda, good or bad?

I can't help but get the idea that a lot of people want to jump on the hate train when it comes to Mass Effect Andromeda, people that just hate for no other reason than hating or following other people in their feeble attempts to come up with an excuse to hate this game. That doesn't mean that Mass Effect Andromeda is flawless, oh no but it's not that bad. I would even say that the game is quite enjoyable, but probably more for fans than for new players. What do you do in Mass Effect Andromeda? You play as Scott or Sara Ryder, depending if you make a male or female character, and after the prologue you become the Pathfinder for the humans. You see several races have decided to travel to the Andromeda system to start over, to get away from the dangers of the Milky Way and hopefully start a peaceful life in Andromeda. Unfortunately things aren't that peaceful when you arrive and troubles are quick to pop up after you wake up from your cryo sleep. Everything has gon...

YouTube adventures -54- Recorder's curse

Do you believe in bad luck? Well it doesn't matter if you believe in it or not but sometimes bad things happen. As a YouTuber this could mean a lot of different things but one of the things a lot of YouTubers are most likely familiar with is... The recorder's curse! So you're probably wondering, what is the recorder's curse. Well for me it's having the bad luck that whenever I'm recording I fail or things go wrong, but the moment I turn of my camera things are working or I do succeed with what I wanted to record. It's really frustrating when you really want to record something and it just doesn't happen, but the moment you stop recording then it happens. I don't think I have to explain how annoying that is and how much you hate being a YouTuber at that point. It does work in your favour if you can record for a long time, because the more time you have to record the bigger the chance is that you get something good. But if you only have a short m...

Relationship problems? Play games together!

Everyone that has been in a relationship has most likely dealt with problems in that relationship. Maybe it was something you said, something you did or something the other said or did. The fact remains that a lot of relationships have rough moments and in these moments it will show if you have a future with your partner. Because if things fall apart then it's most likely over, so why not try to patch things by doing something fun? Instead of paying a relationship counselor, eventhough this is of course not a dumb idea, you could also try to do something less expensive and more fun. Gaming! Gaming brings you closer together? Well not always, I'd be lying if I said  that games have always brought me closer to my girlfriend. I've been in relationships where gaming was more of a problem, but I did spend a lot of time on gaming and not that much time on my girlfriend. So you can imagine what made things go bad. But I'm not saying that you or your girlfriend should play ...

Overwatch, things change...

I can't play multiplayer games for long, I often get tired of them and if I keep playing them I start to resent them so I have to take breaks. Even with a fun game like Overwatch I have to take breaks because it's just not fun anymore if you play it for too long. Normally I would be happy to jump back in the game after a month but now I can't help but feel like I'm completely done with the game. Why? Well there are multiple reasons... Things get repetitive. I didn't mind that Overwatch has no single player mode and that there aren't that many different maps, Hell I usually didn't complain if I would play ten times on the same map in one evening. But now after almost a year it's starting to become an issue for me, because I keep getting frustrating maps I can't seem to get rid off. I have evenings where I keep getting matches on Hanamura and Temple of Anubis and I don't like those maps, as an attacker it can be a nightmare to capture the se...

Other gamers make you hate humanity?

I know it's not all bad, but sometimes just sometimes I get the feeling that there are so many unpleasant people out there that just want to ruin the fun for others. I guess in their sad sack of shit mind that is fun, but honestly why be like that? If you don't like something then don't like it and move on! Why would you stay and keep being this douchebag? Online competitive multiplayer is toxic? That seems to be an understatement, honestly the amount of people that frustrate you when you play online multiplayer is just ridiculous. Oh I'm not talking about being salty when you lose, no I'm talking about people that deliberately want to lose to annoy others. In games like Overwatch they'll pick useless characters or characters they're bad with and so drag their team down. Then there are gamers in games like CoD or Battlefield that will constantly rush out and get themselves killed by some lame ass camper and pretty much seal the fate of the rest of the te...

Movie Monday: The Assignment

This movie is a bit weird, sure it's the revenge story you're probably familiar with but what happens in the movie is something I haven't seen before. I must admit that I didn't have high expectations but I'm willing to give games and movies a try, even if the reviews aren't that great. The Assignment is actually an interesting movie, maybe not amazing but definitely not a bad movie. Unusual but definitely not bad! What's the story about? The story is about a hitman called Frank Kitchen, he takes on an assignment but gets screwed over and gets captured by some people who have plans for him. When he wakes up he quickly find out that something is different, when he looks into the mirror he sees that he's a woman now or at least he has a female body. You can realize that this is a big shock and he wants answers, so he starts finding out who the mysterious voice on the recorder is that was left in the room where he woke up. Now Frank has to decide to liv...

Sinful Sunday: Pride

I think we all have a moment or moments in our life that makes us proud, there is nothing wrong with that but some people take this to a whole new level of attention seeking. When you play games you often get rewards, for example an achievement or a trophy, but that doesn't mean that this makes you amazing. Also people that constantly make their montage of getting kills and leave out all the times they got killed. Is it wrong that they do that? Probably not, but that doesn't mean I want to see it! There's nothing wrong with showing off? I don't think so, if you got a difficult achievement/trophy, beat a difficult level or boss then you can be proud of that. If you want to brag about it then that's up to you, but you should keep in mind that not everyone will like that and you can get a lot of hate for it. The same can be said about people with their kill montage, sure it might look cool but it doesn't represent actually their skill. It's often moments fr...

Game tip: Evolve (now for free on Xboxlive for gold members)!

You might have heard about Evolve but have you ever played it? It's actually a fun game, best played with friends, and allows you to play as one of four hunters or as the monster. This 1 vs 4 game type allows for some serious cat and mouse games where the hunters sometimes become the hunted depending how things go. Isn't 1 vs 4 unfair? You would think so but keep in mind that the person playing as the monster can be become very powerful. You start as a stage 1 monster, this already makes you quite the challenge if the hunters aren't careful, but a fully evolved monster, stage 3, is a serious threat and then the hunters will have to do their best to actually win! It's the trick to find the monster and beat him or her before the monster become stage 3. At the same time the monster will do his or her best to stay under the radar and avoid the hunters for as long as possible until he or she is stage 3. That requires a lot of eating, so it's a good thing you can find...

YouTube adventures -53- Loyal fan or stalker?

It's nice when people like your videos and support you, it gives you motivation to keep going even at times when you don't really feel like making more videos. Some of these people you might even call your fans, but what if this fan is more like a stalker? Showing up in every game you play, always in the same match as you are and constantly around you. Is that ok or should you say something? The real question is... Is this a fan or a stalker? When you have a small channel like me then you don't have this problem, I'm not saying that it couldn't happen but the chance is much smaller. But when I watch videos of popular YouTubers with big channels then you can often see people recognizing the YouTuber, some will be super talkative and others will spam the chat with text messages. Some really mean well, they're just excited to meet a YouTuber and want to play the game with them. Unfortunately some fans are so star struck or they're just utter pricks that the...

Mass Effect Andromeda, just one more week...or less

Yes yes I know, North American gamers get the game two days early, but here in Europe we have to wait a couple of days longer. It's fine because we're one more week away from Mass Effect Andromeda! Are you excited about the game? Well I know that I am excited! Is this a good game to start with? Even if you never played the previous Mass Effect games then Mass Effect Andromeda is a good game to start with. Sure you missed out on some of the story but the story in Mass Effect Andromeda is following a different path and so it's not required to play the previous Mass Effect games. But to understand the universe a bit better in Mass Effect it does help if you have played those games. That doesn't take away the fact that Mass Effect Andromeda is a game that starts a new adventure with new heroes and villains, so hopefully this means we can all enjoy it. Both the 'old' and new fans. Why are you so excited about this game? Because I love Bioware games that give ...

Ghost Recon Wildlands, a week later

A lot of time when I play a game it's all good, most of the time, in the first couple of days but then after some time I discover frustrating moments and bugs/glitches that make the game a lot less fun. So I decided to talk about games that have already launched and then a week later I take a look at them. First game I want to look at is Ghost Recon Wildlands, this game came out on the 7th of March, I got it even three days earlier than that for some reason, and it's a lot of fun to play. Even a week later the game is still pretty solid, but there are definitely moments that made me less happy. Not every mission is fun to play? There are some fun missions, for example kill a certain enemy or destroy a lot of stuff, but also less fun missions where you have to complete an objective in a certain amount of time or you have to protect a dumb npc. I already talked about this yesterday but it was really frustrating for me in some of these missions to deal with this. You'll mo...

One or two bad missions/quests can ruin a game?

Have you ever played a game that you really enjoyed until you reached a point where there was such an annoying mission or quest that almost made you quit the game? I've played these kind of games and it really takes some patience and determination to get through those moments because it really sucks when you fail like twenty times in a row and not see improvement. Should you still play that game or just give up and move on to another game? Well let's find out! Bad missions/quests can ruin a game? I think you could say that it can ruin the fun and thus ruin the game for you. But I doubt that one mission/quest is enough to say that the entire game sucks, it just sucks if you can beat this mission or quest. I've seen this happening for years, a good example is Goldeneye 2, yes a bad game but as a Bond fan I couldn't resist to play it. All is fine until you reach the final level where so many enemies have weapons that kill you with one shot. That is absolutely one of th...

Movie Monday: Resident Evil the Final Chapter

This is number six in the Resident Evil movie series, but just as the title informs you this is the final chapter. Is this a good ending to the series? Well yes and no, you get some answers and things are tied up but at the same time it feels like certain things went too smooth or certain characters got disposed off way too easily considering the role they played in the movies. Also what happened to some of the characters that Alice, the main character in the Resident Evil movies, met? That is still unknown to me and I doubt we'll get an answer on that. Resident Evil movies suck? Oh yes I've heard this before and I get the idea why, because most of the characters from the game are nowhere to be found in the movies or play a small role next to the main protagonist Alice. So who is Alice? Well she's a woman that has been enhanced thanks to the T-virus, the virus that turns most people into zombies, and fights against Umbrella, the organization that's behind the creati...

Sinful Sunday: You should be ashamed to be a gamer?

When people ask me what my hobbies are then I will tell them that playing games is one of my hobbies. Some people will then immediately give you this look like your some type of vermin that just crawled out of the sewer and pretty much consider you as such. It seems that gamers got a bad name, but why? Is it really that bad to be a gamer? I don't think so! Why do some people look down on gamers? There are people that think that gamers are losers, people that have no life and waste all their time on playing games. They have no friends, no social life, they're immature and they're pathetic. At least that what I've heard so far. The prejudice is there, but most people would probably not say that to your face. But why? Why are people getting this is idea of gamers? The main reason is because a lot of people who see gamers this way have never played a game themselves and their opinion is strongly based on what some loud mouth screams on tv. Gamers are supposedly dumb, bu...

Not enough time to play all the games you want to play?

There are moments, usually around Summer time, when there are hardly any new games coming out and then there are moments when almost every week a new game comes out. The worst part is when there are a lot of games coming out in a short period of time and you want to play them all but you don't have enough money and/or time to play them all. So what do you do? Pick wisely? That's obvious but still a lot of people go for the hype or buy a game they know very little about, which then often leads to disappointment and so a waste of money and time. This is why I strongly suggest that you do your homework, no no not actual homework but investigate a game and see if this game is something for you. If you buy a game just because other people say it's fun then you're taking a big risk and when you don't have a lot of money to spend then I don't think you should take that risk. Check YouTube videos, watch gameplay, read about the game in magazines and if possible play...

YouTube adventures part -52- Taking a break?

Some YouTubers post videos every day, which isn't a bad thing but this isn't something that works for everyone. Especially when YouTube is more of a hobby instead of your job then I would suggest not to go crazy with the uploads. I know it's tempting to be this person online that has new videos every day for viewers, but how long can you keep that up? That's why I advice you to... Take a break! Whenever something is going on in my life that requires my attention I will step away from YouTube, even if it's just for a couple of days. This might surprise some people but people don't always like it when you spam videos, especially when the quality of the videos is already pretty low. So you prefer to put some more effort in the videos or just calm down a bit and just upload 3 videos a week. If those videos are going well you could increase with more videos, but if you decide to be this person that uploads every day then I wonder how well that will be received...

Day one dlc is bullshit?

One of the things I really don't like about games these days is that there is day one dlc, so the moment the game launches there is dlc but most times you have to pay for it to actually be able to play it. So instead of just giving you a full game developers love to cut it up a bit and try to sell you additional parts of the game on launch day. Is that bullshit? It sure looks like it! Why the hate for day one dlc? Of course you can ignore it, it's purely optional and nobody forces you to buy it but it just seems so lame when you have to buy for something that should've been in the game. If you put dlc out there from the start then it should've been in the game, the same with dlc that is already announced before the game has even launched. At that point I just get the idea that developers want to drain some more money out of gamers instead of giving them something extra. It's such a shame that this is the new way of launching games, not giving you everything but ...

Ghost Recon Wildlands, fun or frustration?

I got Ghost Recon Wildlands three days early, at first I couldn't believe it but everything worked until I saw that the achievements weren't ready on Xboxlive. So I could play the game but earn no achievements. A minor problem since the achievements showed up on the 7th and I got them anyway. There's a lot you can say about this game but I try to focus on the fun and frustration bit the most, because that's usually what makes you want to play a game or not play a game. The story doesn't matter? You're a ghost, a member of an elite squad of soldiers, that is send to Bolivia to destroy the Santa Blanca (a Mexican drugs cartel) cartel. It doesn't matter in which order you do this but it makes sense that you start with the easy provinces and then slowly move on to the tougher parts of Bolivia. You create your own character so hopefully you picked someone you're happy with because the physical features can't be changed after you're done with the c...

The new Overwatch hero is Orisa...wait what?

I can't be the only one who thought that the new hero would be Doomfist, ok the developers already mentioned that the new hero wouldn't be who you would expect but I kind of was hoping that they try to trick us with that. But the new hero isn't Doomfist, the new hero is Orisa! Orisa or should I say OR15A is a robot (or is it omnic?) and a tank. So that's not a bad thing right? Right?!!! Who or what is Orisa? In a small background story video you learn about a young girl, named Efi, that is a genius robot builder and she decided to build a robot that would protect people. It's based upon already existing robots, the OR15, but when Doomfist attacked the airport he destroyed those robots and so Efi decided to build a new an improved OR15 which became the OR15A or as she likes to call the robot Orisa. What's interesting about Orisa is that this robot is completely new, there's no background prior to the recent events and that makes Orisa a brand new hero in ...

Movie Monday: Assassin's Creed

A lot of people thought that Assassin's Creed would be the game movie (movie inspired by a game) that would finally make game movies good, but unfotunately it seems the majority didn't agree with that. But is Assassin's Creed really that bad? Let's find out! Things are a bit different? If you played a lot of Assassin's Creed games then you probably know what to expect, but the movie is a bit different. First of all the way the test subjects are put into the animus is something completely different, instead of a chair that puts you into the animus the main character Callum Lynch is plugged in with some type of device in his neck and a big machine holds him in the middle and moves with him as he connects with his ancestor Aguilar. This creates some spectacular scenes but also feels weird to the Assassin's Creed fan. Also the switching constantly between Aquilar and Callum in fight scenes is annoying as well. I think people just want to see Aquilar in action an...
