Final Fantasy XV, it's everything you ever wanted in a FF game?

That's a bold thing to say but let me explain, Final Fantasy looks amazing! Ok I know that previous Final Fantasy games also had the same effect, they look amazing but the moment you start playing them you know they're not that amazing. I had that with Final Fantasy XII and Final Fantasy XIII, the trailers look amazing but then when you actually play the game it's not that impressive and at certain points even boring. I don't think Final Fantasy XV will have that problem, mostly because the game offers you so much to do and I'd say at this point the only thing I would complain about is that I don't like spending a whole month in one game and yet that's probably exactly what I do once the game launches on the 30th of September! What is so amazing about Final Fantasy XV? I understand that there are still people that don't see why FF XV is so amazing. For me it's the freedom, to go where you want to go in beautiful environments and lose yourself in ...

Games are oversexualized?

Afbeelding
I understand that not everyone likes games, maybe some people even hate them, but sometimes people just go too far. They start this pointless crusade against a game just because there's something they don't like about it. What is it they don't like? Well it could be anything but today I want to talk about oversexualized games and what makes these games oversexualized. What makes a game oversexualized? Apparently the slightest hint towards the human body and the things you can do with your human body, yes I'm talking about sex and being able to see certain parts of the human body in a game. Somehow people find sex more offensive than violence in games, this anti sex vibe comes mostly from Americans (not all of them, mostly people that hardly or even never play games). But what is it exactly that upsets people? Well today I just heard the stupidest thing, in the game Overwatch one of the characters (Tracer) has a victory pose and some women find this this pose wrong a...

Are you still playing the Sims 3?

To be totally honest with you, yes I'm still playing the Sims 3! Why? Because I have all the expansion packs for the Sims 3 and I really like playing that game every now and then. In the Sims 4 I would have to start again with hardly anything of what I have now. So that means no supernatural, no pets, no university and no seasons. These are things I like in the Sims 3 and as long as these aren't in the Sims 4 I don't see any reason to dive into that game! The Sims 3 is better than the Sims 4? When it comes to the expansion packs then yes I think the Sims 3 is better, mostly because it offers a lot of diversity and allows you to do some crazy and silly things. For example marry an alien, turn everyone into zombies or summon a meteor to crush a house! These are amazing things I love in the Sims 3 and I doubt I can do that in the Sims 4, well not yet anyway. This is the main problem with every new Sims game, you either stick with the old one until you're comfortable en...

Quantum Break, tv show or game?

I must admit that at first I was a bit confused with this game, I mean at one point you see actual actors play in a show and then you control a character in a game. So what is it? Well it's both, but mostly it's a game with something extra. So if you can appreciate the extra story content to be with real actors then you're in luck, if you don't like that and still want to play this game then I hope for you that you can skip those parts. What can you expect from Quantum Break? At first I thought I figured this game out, I thought it would be the type of Alan Wake game (but in this game it's about time) with some moments where you see real actors play the parts from the game. But then I saw a gameplay video and that completely changed everything, because it seems this game is faster and less story gameplay and more action gameplay. What I mean with that is that the gameplay is faster and more based on killing enemies quickly with powers you have instead of using t...

Sinful Sunday: You vs the world

Have you ever had the feeling when you're playing a game that it's you vs the world? I'm not even talking about playing deathmatch or  free for all for a day but more that everything you do seems to work against you in the game and nothing seems to work. Whenever that happens to me I get the feeling like everything is against me and it puts me in a me vs the world state of mind. Which really makes me determined to get something done in a game. For example beating an annoying boss, getting through a difficult area in a game or getting a certain achievement. How does this put you in a you vs the world state of mind? Ok let me explain, I guess my mind sometimes works a bit weird but there is some logic behind it! When I play a game and die in the game then that's unfortunate, but when this happens several times in a row at the same point and pretty much on the same way then that is something that pisses me off! In my anger I sink into a state of mind where it's me ...

Xbox One Slim and the Playstation 4.5

Sometimes I really hate consoles and all the bullshit that comes with them. Just look at the Xbox One Slim and the Playstation 4.5 (eventhough this new playstation console hasn't been officially been confirmed at this time) that offer more than your standard Xbox One and Playstation 4 console but it would require you to buy a new expensive console. This is probably good news for people who haven't bought one of the new consoles but it's not such good news for people who have bought a new console. Why? Because it feels a lot like a load of bullshit! Oh you want a new and improved console? Well you'll have to pay the full price for that or you can just hold on your standard version that will most likely not be as impressive as the new version. New consoles are part of the deal? I know how it works, consoles don't last a lifetime and eventually you'll have to upgrade. But when you get this new version of a console you already have it just feels like Microsoft a...

Youtube adventures part 12

It's not always easy to make videos, sure you can press record and capture some gameplay or make a vlog about something but if you don't put your heart in it then who would want to watch that? Ok I know there are several people on youtube that upload complete utter bullshit and still get a lot of views, so I don't want to give youtube viewers too much credit, but when you're relatively new to youtube you probably don't want to make videos that aren't fun to watch or at least interesting to watch. So stick with something you like and that you like to play and/or talk about. But the most important thing is... Be yourself! I sometimes see youtubers make videos that make me wonder why they made those videos, did he or she make that video because he or she is interested in that, wants to try something different or is just trying to get as many views as possible? One of those videos that makes my stomach turn are the reaction videos, half of the time this looks so...

Are online friends your real friends?

This is something I've been wondering for some time, mostly because I don't really know myself. It's not that I think that my online friends are assholes and they're just people I know but they're different when I compare them to friends I know offline and with whom I can actually spend time. That doesn't mean that the online friendship is fake, I mean you can have online friends and have just as much fun with them as with friends you spend time with offline. But it's different, the things you can do are limited and sometimes you just need a person to be there with you and not on the other side of a screen. It's easier to make online friends? I think it is, but sometimes it can be difficult as well. For example if you're not social and you make hardly any effort to talk or to get to know someone or even spend time playing games with other people online then it can be difficult to make online friends. Eventhough some people will give you a random ...

Overwatch is Team Fortress 3?

I think a lot of fans of Team Fortress 2 have been waiting for Team Fortress 3, but knowing Valve (the developer of Team Fortress 2) that will never happen because Valve doesn't believe in part 3 of any game series they have created. Just look at Left for Dead and Half Life, they get two games (Half Life got some episodes of gameplay but not the official third part in the game series) and then there's silence. Maybe one day we'll see part 3 but for now we have to do with games that look a lot like games we love. Overwatch is a good example of that because it reminds me a lot of Team Fortress 2, but Overwatch looks bigger and better! How is Overwatch bigger and better than Team Fortress 2? The obvious reasons would be that Overwatch has more playable characters and maps to play on, but that would be an easy way to explain it. The characters in Overwatch are so unique that hardly any character feels the same as another, even within the same group you can have a completely...

Women that play games

I keep getting back to female gamers, it's almost as if I would admire them but in truth it's something I find interesting because I don't know a lot of women that actually play games. Oh sure there are some that I know that play these silly games like bejeweled or have their virtual farm with virtual crops but would you call that a gamer? I guess that brings us to a whole other topic, what makes someone a gamer? Man it already gives me a headache to just think about that. So let's stick to one subject here! You keep talking about female gamers but do they even exist? Yes they do exist, I know that for some people it's difficult to believe when you've never seen one or even met one but the thing is that you've probably played with or against one and you didn't even realize it. You see not everyone likes to talk online with others and for female gamers things can get a bit nasty in some games because they sometimes get a lot of hate just for being a g...

Can games inspire you?

It's Spring! It's time to act like an idiot and flirt with other people, oh wait that's what you might expect in Spring but that's not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about inspiration and I get a lot of that in Spring and Autumn, unfortunately in Autumn a lot of fun games come out so that usually means that I only have Spring to actually work with my inspiration and get things done. How do games inspire you? That would depend, I mean one person might be inspired more than the other (maybe some people aren't inspired at all), but it comes down to having that feeling of doing something creative or trying out something new. But it could also be that a game just makes you want to do something, the same way that some movies influence us when we watch those. With games it's pretty much the same because have you never had the urge to go larping(LARP = Live Action Role Play) after playing some Dragon Age? Hang around with friends at school after playing B...

Sinful Sunday: Helping new players or not?

We've all been new at some point to a game, in this time you learn how the control works and you try to memorize combos in a fighting game or the map and the spawn points in a first person shooter. Some people learn pretty fast, others need more time and then there are those that step into the game at a later time. So even if the game has been out for six months you can still encounter new players, but how do you treat new players? It's easy to kick them out of your team or ignore them for as much as you can, but let's not forget that we were all new at some point to the game and it's not fun when people treat you like shit just because you're new to the game! Experienced players don't like new players? Sometimes I get that impression, what some veteran players do like is to be in a team full of experienced players and facing a team full of new players. I don't think I have to tell you what happens to the team of new players. These noobs, newbies or rook...

Games without a story are bad?

These days stories are shoved in almost every game, even when it's a racing game, fighting game or party game. It's as if the game would be worse if there wouldn't be a story in it, but I don't think every game needs a story to be fun to play. I think in some games a story would just be confusing or be standing in the way of making quick progress. Maybe some people value that and want to see more stories in games but in all honesty I think sometimes it's more fun when you have less things to deal with and just play the game! Stories are necessary? In some games it is, for example when you're in a (mmo)rpg then it would be less interesting if there is no story and you just grind on a group of enemies to level up until you hit max level. Then there are also games that are more interesting because they have a good story, for example Life is strange and the Wolf among us. I'm not saying that these games would be terrible without a story but it's the stor...

Youtube adventures part 11

As a youtuber you make videos, some videos you make to let people laugh and then there are videos where you want to talk with your viewers about something. The way you do this is totally up to you. Some do it all alone and then there are others that bring family and friends into their videos or some work together with other youtubers and create a working relationship with these people. But how well does this work and should you always work with others to become succesful? Family, friends, youtube and you. It's not always easy to be a youtuber, it sometimes takes a lot of work to do what you do and not everyone understands that. Sometimes making videos and working on those videos can take a lot of time, this is time you don't spend with family and friends but it's important for your work as a youtuber because if you make no videos then there's nothing you can post on youtube. On some youtube channels I read comments where people ask (sometimes they even demand it...

P.A.M.E.L.A. is a new type of horror game?

Ever since the Rebirth trailer I've been keeping an eye on this game, a survival horror game that takes place in a fallen Utopia. Everything looks so beautiful and yet there are corpses everywhere and you know something terrible has happened, unfortunately you don't know what and how to exactly fix things if you can even fix it. Because at this point I don't know if this will be a game where you just try to survive or where you actually try to fix things. Either way the game looks amazing and after seeing the gameplay trailer I'm certain that this game will be quite interesting to play! Is this really a survival horror game? I can understand your doubts if you give this game a quick glance, futuristic setting and bright light embracing you with warmth, how can this be survival horror? But then you see people, or at least they used to be people, coming after you and trying to kill you. These former residents of Eden, the name of the fallen Utopia, have turned into so...

Nobody wants to be the healer?

Being the healer in the team is an important job but sometimes it feels like nobody want to have that job. Can you really blame people for not wanting to be the healer? No I can't, because being the healer means dealing with all the frustration when you fail and even when you succeed a lot of people will not even thank you for the effort you made. Not that you need to be thanked for everything but some people treat healers as their personal lap dog, the moment someone doesn't get a heal when they ask for it then there are some people that give the healer a lot of hate. As if that makes the healer want to heal that person. Being the healer is hard work, I think it's the most difficult role of all in a team, and you often don't get a lot of reward or appreciation for it. So why would you want to be a healer? It's fun to be a healer? That depends, if you're someone that likes to walk up front and be very tough to kill then you might prefer to play as a tank or ...

Fantasy games vs Realistic games

There are a lot of different genres in the world of games, but you can put most of them in two different groups. The first group of games are fantasy games and the second group of games are realistic games, both are popular and have their own fair share of fans and then there are people that like both type of games. But is one better than the other? What makes fantasy games more fun than realistic games or vice versa? Let's find out below! Fantasy games. I love fantasy games, they're perfect for losing yourself in a game and escape the misery of the real world. That's not completely without danger, some people are addicted to the fantasy world and hardly live their life in the real world, but as long as you play smart you should be ok. I love playing games where a lot of things are possible, where there is magic and mythological creatures roam around the land. Even when you're no one special in the real world, in the fantasy world you can be the hero of that world a...

Infinite spawning enemies in a game

This is probably one of the most annoying and laziest thing a developer can put in a game. What's even worst is that these type of enemies have been showing up in games for a long time and I don't think we've seen the end of that. But it does make me wonder, are there actually people who like these type of enemies? Because somehow they keep showing up in games so someone must like that or are some developers just assholes? Why do you hate infinite spawning enemies? If you have to ask this then you clearly haven't been in a situation that went from bad to worse just because the enemies keep spawning and you're running out of ammo and/or health. It makes something that isn't that difficult more difficult and turns something that could be fun into something that isn't fun. Sometimes it's quite simple, you need to get an objective, protect an objective or beat a boss. This wouldn't be so difficult if it wasn't for the infinite spawning enemies, n...

Sinful Sunday: Shouting at my tv

Sometimes it happens that I can't help but shout at my tv, usually there's no real reason for it except for frustration. But try to explain that to your parents when you're a kid, to your boyfriend or girlfriend when you live together with someone or your neighbours when you live close to other people. They probably think that you're crazy, but how could they ever understand how you got screwed over in a game and you just have to blow off some steam or else you'll explode with frustration! Why do you shout at your tv? That's simple, it makes me feel a bit better but mostly it's just my natural response when I feel that I get screwed over. For example in the Division I almost killed an enemy and he survives the full burst of my rifle and I have to reload, but reloading takes just a bit too long and he kills me. That makes me upset and when I'm upset I shout at my tv. Sometimes it's just a few words but there have also been moments where I had rant...

My love/hate relationship with the Division

A lot of people are excited about the Division, some call this game amazing and a lot of fun but I wonder how honest they are. Because eventhough the Division can definitely be fun it's not all fun in this game, what's even worse is that there are sometimes serious moments of frustration that are the opposite of fun! This isn't a review but more my personal opinion about the Division. My experience in PvE as a lone wolf. I don't like to team up with others, I prefer to go my own way and I'm happy that the Division gives you this option. You can explore the map on your own and do all the missions and other activities on your own. Unfortunately some missions and activities aren't really made for lone wolves, which then leads you to some frustrating moments. For example when you have to carry items to a certain spot that makes you move very slow and you can only equip a pistol when you carry that item, when enemies constantly spawn and there's no way of cle...

Youtube adventures part 10

No matter how much fun you have recording videos it's lame to see people hate your videos, maybe the quality isn't that great but that doesn't mean people have to hate it right? Well some people do seem to believe that they need to hate it, not just with a dislike but also with comments that are usually just people being assholes online. There's nothing wrong with criticism, but if all someone does is tell you what's wrong with your video and not giving you anything to work with then it's just a waste of time to even read that. But the question remains. How do you deal with haters? If you make a video on youtube then sooner or later you'll get unfriendly comments, especially if you video isn't really that great then it's easier for people to hate it. But even fun videos and good quality videos get hate, wether that's they don't like the guy or girl that made the video or it's just some sad attempt to make people angry. On youtube you...

Getting married in a game means something?

Getting married in real life is a serious commitment, ok maybe not everyone sees it that way but at least I think it is, and it's not something you just decide to do. Perhaps there are exceptions, for example getting married in Vegas seems to be a quick way to get married and also one you might regret, but usually if you want to get married it's something you plan and look forward to (or not). But what about getting married in a game? How different is that from getting married in real life and what does getting married in a game mean to you? Getting married in a game is just for fun? That makes sense, especially if your character gets married with a npc. Even if you like the npc and choose to marry the npc in the game it's not real and it's probably just a way to give a happy ending to your character and the npc in the game. But what if you marry a real person in a game? That would change things a bit, oh sure it's still just in a game and it wouldn't mean t...

Playing a popular game on launch day

I think a lot of people want to play a new game as soon as possible and I don't disagree with that, because why would you wait when you can play the game on launch day? Well the problem is that you're not the only one who is going to play the game on launch day, which means for certain online games that you have to deal with a lot of frustration. Is that worth it or should you just wait a week or two before you start playing? Playing a popular game on launch day is dumb? I wouldn't call it dumb, but I think it's risky though. Especially with online games that require you to stay online to play the game, there are so many things that can go wrong with that and that will keep you from enjoying the game. Just look at the Division, I really enjoy playing the game but then I get sudden disconnects. Apparently a lot of people want to play this game at the same time and so the servers are not really handling things so well, which means you can get a random disconnect just ...

The Division already gets a lot of hate?

Does that surprise you? It's not like the hating just started, I think on almost every Division video on youtube I've seen a lot of comments with people hating on the game. This is nothing new though, just look at Destiny and the amount of hate that game got and even on this day still gets. It seems some games are just easy targets, because the more hype and popularity a game gets the more people will hate it. Why? Because some people are assholes, they think it's funny to hate on a game and then see who will respond to their comments. These trolls are hardly worth your time but just in case you do encounter them just ignore them and move on! Are all the Divsion haters really trolls? Probably not, there's always a good chance that there really are people that just don't like the game, especially if they bought and/or played it then I can understand that some people are a bit bitter about the game. But to go to almost every Division video to spread your hate seem...

Some gamers are masochists?

When I play a game I like to have fun, anything that prevents me from having fun is something I don't like and so I find it weird how some people enjoy playing a game that tortures them or really makes them suffer with a lot of deaths and retries. How can you enjoy these type of games? Apparently some people like a challenge or perhaps they are masochists. Some people prefer a challenge? I often first check the achievements before I select a difficulty, so if there is an achievement to finish the game on normal then I'll start on normal and if there isn't a specific difficulty achievement (so you just need to finish the game no matter what difficulty you play on) then I prefer to play on easy because that goes faster and it also helps you get other achievements where you need to do certain things and that's usually easier when you play on the easy difficulty. I'm not ashamed of that and I don't feel the urge to challenge myself on harder difficulties if ther...

Sinful Sunday: Everybody hates a winner?

I'm usually not a winner in a multiplayer match, oh sure in a team deathmatch I might be victorious but in deathmatch aka free for all I suck. So I personally haven't dealt with a lot of hate, but I know that there are people that get a lot of hate for being succesful. Wether that's with youtube videos, having a lot of friends or even just winning a match in online multiplayer. Why do people in first place get a lot of hate? Would you expect from the people that lost that they're all happy for the person that beat them? Among friends you might expect that and perhaps there are some rare examples out there that play competitive multiplayer but don't care if they win or lose but usually people aren't happy for the winner. I guess it also depends what kind of person the winner is, because if that person camps and then afterwards taunts the other players then you can expect a lot of hate. But even if someone is silent, doesn't do anything to make others hate...

Getting someone recommended to you on Xboxlive

On Xboxlive you now get players recommended to you, usually these are people with popular uploads, and to my surprise I get several female gamers recommended to me. I can't say that I really want to expand my friendslist but I decided to check out what kind of people Xboxlive is recommending to me. What's weird is that most of these people aren't living anywhere near me, so that's already weird to recommend someone that lives in a completely different time zone which makes playing together difficult and then there's the age difference. You see I got a recommendation to play with a girl who's 19, well I don't know about you but I'd rather play with people around my own age. Not that there's anything wrong with playing with people that are older or younger than you, but I think you usually fit better with people around your own age. Xboxlive recommendations are crap? I think it's safe to say that, because most of the people that were recommende...

Youtube adventures part 9

Before you even start with your youtube channel you might have to figure out what kind of videos you want to make, even if you figure that out then it's still the trick of making these videos. The one thing you might want to avoid is to become too repetitive, that sucks out the fun and makes videos difficult to watch. That's not fun for you nor the viewer. So sooner or later you have to figure out what you want to do with your youtube channel, stick to what you're familiar with or do things that you like. Videos from the mind or from the heart. I sometimes I have moments that I come up with idea, these ideas are often not worked out and just stay idea but then there are examples where I did actually made videos of an idea I had. For example my science on Saturday videos are videos I thought about, something that I had fun with making and I would sometimes even bring friends along. It's where my creativity meets my passion and it would sometimes lead to some fun vide...
