Playing games with strangers
For those of us who don´t have a lot of friends or don´t have friends that play the same games as you, there´s the choice to play with random strangers. It´s not the most tempting thing to do but it can help you get through difficult moments or even help you get certain achievements/trophies you wouldn´t get on your own! So maybe it´s not so bad to play with strangers?
Random strangers aren´t so bad?
It´s possible, but it´s also possible you get a bunch of douchebags that try to annoy you or just don´t do anything. Playing with random strangers is a risk, you don´t know what type of people you get in your team and that can be both a good thing and a bad thing. A game can be more interesting if you play it with random strangers, but at the same time it can also be a frustrating experience when people don´t communicate and get you and the rest of the team killed. But in a lot of games you can assume that people that play a team based game want to try and win or at least make some progress. This doesn´t always require communication, but it does help if you talk with others to plan your next move.
A stranger is a friend you don´t know?
To be honest I don´t really believe in that saying, but if you do then that´s good for you. The thing is that random strangers could be anyone, from friendly experienced players to idiots that want to annoy you. The worst are probably the ones that don´t do anything, they expect you to do all the work and then still get credit for your work in the form of rewards and/or achievements/trophies. These people are better known as leeches. But it´s not all bad, sometimes you can actually make new friends when you play games with random strangers. It´s definitely not impossible! In a way it´s a matter of circumstances, for example what type of player are you and who are the people that join your team? Then succes and behaviour can also play a big role, because if you´re going to be silent and not really play as part of the team then the others might not be interested to play with you again. But if you communicate with the others and actually help out then there is a better chance that the others would like to play with you again.
It´s a good thing that you can play with strangers?
Yes, because if you couldn´t then some people wouldn´t be able to play multiplayer. Mostly because some people don´t have that many friends or friends that play the same type of games, that is if they play games because there is always a chance that some people don´t have friends that play games. So as much as some people might complain about random strangers it´s still a good thing that this is a possibility for people to play against, because otherwise it would be difficult for some players to find multiplayer matches. Besides not every random stranger is bad, sometimes you just get unlucky and find a bunch of douchebags. Don´t let that discourage you, eventually you should find friendly players. It could just take some time...
