House of Wolves will change Destiny?
Next month House of Wolves dlc will launch for Destiny, but what does that mean for Destiny? Well a lot! This isn´t just dlc that adds some new missions, this is dlc that will improve several things for Destiny players. For example you can exchange items, getting an ascendant shard for ascendant energy or vice versa. But you also get a new social area in the Reef which is accessible for everyone, even players that don´t have the House of Wolves dlc!
What can you find in the Reef?
First of all there are several new NPCs that offer you new missions and/or items. First you have Petra, you might know her from the Queen´s Wrath event in the early days of Destiny, and she offers you bounties and the shaders and emblems you could earn in the Queen´s Wrath event. I also saw that she has a cool ship you can earn, something quite unique...until everyone unlocks it and uses it. Then there is Variks, this is a Fallen captain that is loyal to the queen, he is part of another faction in the Reef and will offer you armor and weapons if you gain a high enough reputation level with him. You can also earn others ships there. Then there is Brother Vance who is connected to the trials of Osiris, this is end game stuff that is still pretty vague to me but it will probably make your character even stronger. He offers things to help you during the trials and you can also earn gear there that will help you in missions.
So it´s just new characters?
Nope, you also get the item exchange which you can do when you talk to the Speaker. Here you can exchange material for other materials or even buy materials with glimmer. So now it should be easier to get your hands on ascendant materials, motes of light and radiant materials. On top of that you get new missions that continue the story after your final mission in the original game, so if you´re curious about what happens next then this might be something you want to check out! It´s also nice that you have another social area for people to meet up or just explore if you´re between missions. But let´s not forget the new legendary and exotic gear. If you don´t feel like buying the new legendary gear then you can upgrade your current legendary gear to the light levels of the new legendary gear. This is great for players that like their current armor and prefer not to switch to new gear that they might not like.
Is it worth buying?
If you bought the season pass you should already get this dlc but in case you didn´t then I can tell you that this dlc looks interesting. It offers you a lot of new things and should keep you busy for some time longer. If you invested a lot of time in Destiny then this dlc will keep you going for a bit longer, but I don´t think it´s that big with missions. For example there is no raid in this dlc, which is something a lot of people don´t like. But if you never played any raids, for whatever reason that might be, then it doesn´t really matter I guess. This dlc will give you new items to work hard for, gaining reputation levels with factions or characters usually takes time and I´m certain that it might take you several weeks to get up to a high reputation level to buy more interesting gear. So if you like investing more time in Destiny then this dlc is interesting, but if you´re done with investing more time in Destiny then I wouldn´t advice you to get this dlc because it will mean you´re going to be annoyed that you´ll have to invest more time to get the new gear. But to be honest this is the way Destiny has always been.
