Looking back at.....Final Fantasy X!

When I first saw the main character in Final Fantasy X I had my doubts about him and about the game, he didn´t look at cool as Cloud or Squall (protagonists in Final Fantasy VII and VIII) and I thought I would have a difficult time liking Tidus (the name of the protagonist of Final Fantasy X). But I was wrong, oh I was so wrong! Final Fantasy X is for me the last Final Fantasy that really mattered and also the last Final Fantasy that had some humour in it. Eventhough the story is sad there is still a lot of fun in this game!

Zanarkand.

Tidus is from Zanarkand, but when he after the prologue ends up in the middle of nowhere he does his best to get back home. People think he´s crazy that he´s from Zanarkand, because they said that Zanarkand doesn´t exist anymore...at least the city that Tidus talks about doesn´t exist anymore. On his way there he meets other people and together they travel to Zanarkand for Yuna (a summoner that has to go there for her pilgrimage) and Tidus tags along to see with his own eyes if Zanarkand is truly destroyed. It´s a journey with fun, excitement, drama, betrayal and courage that is actually a lot of fun to play!

Blitzball.

Card games are usually popular in Final Fantasy games but in Final Fantasy X you get blitzball, an interesting sport that takes place underwater. The idea is that you with your team kick the ball in the goal of the opponent, but the other team will try to take it from you and do the same. It´s actually a very exciting sport that is quite addictive if you invest in it. You see the more you play with your team members the stronger they become and two of the party members also play blitzball so that´s also fun. You can manage your own team and get rid of some players and get new ones if you want to. It´s quite simple but definitely a lot of fun!

Combat.

The combat in this game is turn based, so you have all the time in the world to make your move. Which comes in handy when you´re not that familiar with the skills of each character. Because every character has his or her own role, something that gives them a chance to be helpful with their own skills. For example flying opponents are more difficult to hit for the scrappers, but Wakka can hit them easily with his blitzball. So switching characters might be a good idea, you´re not stuck with the same trio. The same counts for enemies that are vulnerable to magic, it´s easy to switch to your black mage and deal with that or your white mage to heal a wounded party member. You can also summon Aeons, these are big creatures that will replace the party members and fight against the enemies. They can be killed and then you switch back to your party, but they don´t stay dead and you can get them back with a potion in the menu screen. They also become stronger to more you use them. It´s maybe not the best combat system in the world but it´s easy to use and keeps the fun in the game!
