The Sims 4: Get to work!

Some time ago I talked about the Sims 4 being quiet, well it seems that the first add on is a fact and it´s called get to work. But are you really waiting for the same things or do you finally get something new you haven´t seen before in the Sims?


So what´s new?


There are three ´new´ professions: detective, doctor and scientist. But that´s not new! No they´re not, but this time it´s not sending your sim to work and then concentrate on other sims. This time you can actually follow your sims to work and see what they do and actually do things yourself. So it´s not just getting a good mood for your sim, learn the skills you need to advance and making friends at work. Now you´ll actually have to do the job! So for a doctor that means some surgery and other stuff in the hospital, the detective will have to solve crimes and there is some crime scene investigation stuff going on plus you can interrogate suspects, the scientist can invent and create new things and that can sometimes lead to something great or you could blow up the lab!


That´s it?


Well there are also outfits and items you get with this add on so it should keep you busy a bit longer in the Sims 4. But does this really surprise you? This is how it´s always been with the Sims games, complain about one and you can complain about them all. Well some add ons are better than others, but that´s definitely a matter of opinion. What´s cool about the Sims games is that add ons give you more options, you have more possibilities and thus a better chance to create something nice. Besides it´s fun to discover new things and check out the new outfits.


Is it worth checking out?


If you´re a die hard Sims 4 fan then that´s an easy answer, yes! If you like playing the Sims 4 but you´re looking for something new then this might also be a good buy, it should keep you busy and keep things a bit fresh in your sim neighbourhood. But what if you haven´t bought the Sims 4? Well I don´t know if this add on is the one that will convince you to buy the Sims 4, in my opinion it´s not as big as supernatural or pets from the Sims 3 so it might not be enough to convince you. If you don´t like the Sims 4 then it´s not a surprise that you´re probably not going to be interested in this. Of course it´s up to you if you want to buy this add on or not, I´d say check out the trailer and see if it´s something you want or if you can do without this add on.

Button bashing

It seems that more and more games want you to smash on the buttons of the controller, which seems like fun but knowing that this weak piece of plastic can´t handle much it´s not the smartest way to handle your controller. In the good old arcade days I could smash on buttons, ok nothing too crazy but at least those machines had a lot more resilience than these weak controllers we have now. You have to pay a small fortune for one of them and they fall apart with the slightest bit of force you use. After smashing a couple of controllers out of frustration I learned to be careful with them, but when games force you to be an agressive button basher it doesn´t really help. Button bashing is nothing new but I do seem to see it in more and more games, even games that could easily do without this abusive way of treating your controller. Sinful Sunday: Why are you so serious?

When I play a game I don't want to be serious, I just want to have fun and relax. Honestly real life is serious enough and I don't need that in games. Who cares who wins or who loses, just have fun and that already makes it great! Unfortunately there are gamers that take certain games way too serious, so serious that they literally forget to have fun which is quite frustrating to deal with. Mortal Kombat X isn´t just another fighting game?

You´ve probably seen the announce trailer of Mortal Kombat X, then you probably also know that it shows two familiar characters fighting against eachother. At that point you´re probably still thinking that it´s just more of the same but with a better coat of paint, I understand that pessimist look and it´s not often wrong. But from what I´ve heard about Mortal Kombat X is that it´s going to be more than just a new game in the Mortal Kombat game series. What´s new? Apparently there will be more fighting styles for one character, giving everyone his or her own favourite style to use against opponents. There was something familiar in another Mortal Kombat game where they also had weapons in a fighting style, but this seems to go a bit deeper and more unique.
