Looking back at.....L4D! (Left For Dead)

The moment I heard about L4D I was interested, this was exactly what I was looking for as a survival horror fan. A zombie shooter where you can team up with friends and have a big area to move around in. Maybe some people already experience with that but for me it was new and new is usually good!

Zombies!

Somehow zombies are fun to shoot, I guess it´s a bit of a free pass to shoot at people because they´re not exactly people anymore. I know that some people would say that too much of something is a bad thing but when you face a lot of zombies in a game then it just becomes more interesting. Other zombie games, for example Resident Evil usually keep the amount of zombies low, that gives you a fighting chance, but in L4D you face hordes of zombies and what´s worse there are also special infected that can easily kill you if you´re not careful!

Teamwork is the key!

Wether you play solo or with friends it´s smart to stick with the group because if you run off by yourself there is a good chance that you die. It usually only takes one special infected to pin you down and you´re as good as done! In single player you get bots in your team but they´re not that reliable, eventhough some players can also be assholes and don´t be surprised when they get you killed! But it´s nice that you can experience a cool zombie shooter with friends, for me the closest thing to that was House of the Dead 2 in the arcade and that was just for two players. So imagine the fun you can have with a full team of four!

Survive at all costs!

The thing about L4D is that not everyone has to make it, as long as one of the team makes it to a safe house you all win. Unfortunately you won´t progress to the next level until everyone is in the safe house or everyone outside the safe house is dead. Sometimes someone will sacrifice himself or herself so the others can make it, I´m not saying that you need to do this but sometimes it helps the team win. A good way to win is to stick with the others and use a weapon you´re comfortable with, so using a hunting rifle while you´re terrible at aiming is a bad idea! It´s also smart to check buildings for items that can heal you, ammo and other items that can distract or damage the zombies. L4D is a fun and exciting experience that I can definitely recommend if you´re into survival horror games and like to play games with your friends!
