Mass Effect 4 has multiplayer?
Now before you get angry or excited it hasn´t been confirmed! So far all we know is that there will be online options in Mass Effect 4, what that exactly means remains a mystery for now but that doesn´t stop the speculation! I must admit that I´m not very excited about this news, I mean online options are great when things work but if even the slightest thing isn´t working correctly then it can be a headache!
Do you think that they´ll put multiplayer in Mass Effect 4?
It wouldn´t surprise me if they did, because Bioware did that in Mass Effect 3 and in Dragon Age: Inquisition. Both times it was with succes so it makes sense that they would bring that back in Mass Effect 4, probably bigger and better than before. Is that a good thing? That depends, do you like multiplayer in a game that is actually made for single player? If you have friends that play the same game as you then it´s nice that you can share this experience in multiplayer, but for a lot of players it´s just an inconvience where you don´t know anyone else that plays that game and you don´t feel like teaming up with random strangers. Which is why I´m not excited about it, I would rather have Bioware make an amazing single player experience than to add multiplayer in so you have something else to do after you beat the game.
Could it also mean that there is a co-op mode in Mass Effect 4?
It´s possible, but the real question is if you want that? I´ve enjoyed playing the first three Mass Effect games on my own, I don´t really want to share that with anyone else. Remember that you make decisions and those decisions carry weight in that world, so if you share your game with someone else in co-op then one of the two will have to live with the decisions of the other. Maybe that will be sorted out later as everyone will have their own unique world but with that in mind I´d rather just stick to a good old fashioned single player adventure!
Does this mean you have to be online to play?
Perhaps, it could also have something to do with the log in to the Bioware servers as you did with Dragon Age: Inquisition. So I wouldn´t panic just yet, let´s first stay calm and wait what this news means. Hopefully it´s good news and not something that we don´t need nor want! It´s great that there are thousands of people out there that enjoy(ed) the multiplayer modes in Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, but not everyone likes that and some people just want to enjoy playing the campaign. As long as Bioware keeps that it mind then things should be ok, because I don´t want to face a multiplayer experience in a game that definitely doesn´t need it to convince players to play it! I also hope that they keep the achievements/trophies out of the multiplayer experience, I really hate achievements/trophies that lure you to modes you don´t want to play and you don´t like to play but if you want to get all achievements/trophies you´ll have to do it. Let´s hope that Mass Effect will be a great single player experience and if possible leave some room for other options, but the main focus should definitely be on the single player experience!
