Evolve is more fun than you might think!
I´m actually surprised that this game gets so much hate, but then again it´s not that surprising because these days it´s almost standard that popular games get hate from random douchebags. But that doesn´t make Evolve a bad game! It´s actually a lot of fun and if you play it with friends then it´s even more fun!
What kind of game is Evolve?
In this game you play as one of four hunters or as one of three monsters. The hunters try to kill the monster while the monster tries to evolve into a bigger and stronger monster and then kill the hunters. It seems like a simple hack and slash type of game but it actually takes some strategy to be succesful, if you just rush in then even a level 1 monster might be able to kill you! Especially when you´re separated from the other hunters, teamwork is the key! As a monster you´ll have to kill other creatures on the map and eat them, this will help you evolve into a stronger monster and it will give you a better chance to survive an encounter with the hunters.
So what makes this game fun to play?
As a hunter it´s the thrill of the hunt, danger lurks behind every corner and you shouldn´t just be careful when it comes to dealing with the monster because the map is full of other creatures that can kill you or nature itself (plants or the environment) that will damage you! The monster has that problem as well, but with a big health bar you can take a bit more and eventually by killing other creatures you become stronger. The hunters can have an exciting chase while the monster will have to run for his or her life! It might be lame if you constantly chase the monster but never get him or her, but your trapper can trap him or her in a dome and then he or she will have to fight or run around in circles getting hit. You can also unlock other characters (in the same role as you´re playing) and monsters if you play enough as a certain class in the team or as a monster. So it pays off to stick with something you like and then get new things. Maybe you don´t like this but by giving you the option to unlock them you keep a game longer alive, because if you get everything from the start then there isn´t much point in playing when there is nothing left to unlock.
There aren´t any lame roles in the team?
Every member of the team has a role to play. For example the healer can heal and also tranquilize the monster so he or she will move slower, the trapper can trap the monster so he or she can´t get away and the trapper also has a creature called Daisy that helps track the monster and pick up fallen allies, assault is the damage dealer and you get a lightning gun and an assault rifle to do that, then there is also support which allows you to shield or make other hunters invisible and you can call in bombs that will fall on the monster dealing some serious damage! Even as a monster you have different ways of playing because the three monsters aren´t exactly the same. Goliath is the tank type, this means run around and destroy everything! Kraken will require a bit more skill as you´re more vulnerable, but with your lightning attacks you can do some serious damage! Wraith is the most vulnerable and sneaky of the three, she is excellent with deception tricks and sneak kills! So whatever your style is you´ll probably find it in this game!
