Saints Row IV: Gat out of hell
Just when you think things can´t go crazier than an alien invasion then you get Gat out of hell, which makes things even weirder but more important is it still fun? Is it a smart idea to give you control of other characters instead of the character you made? Are people still interested in Saints Row IV more than a year after the release on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3? What does this stand alone dlc have to offer? Well let´s find out!
You don´t play as your own character?
That´s right, you play as Johnny Gat or Kinzie Kinsington. You do see your own character, the one you made in Saints Row IV, in the first cutscene but after that it´s the Johnny and Kinzie show! Which isn´t a bad thing because Johnny is a very popular character in the Saints Row series and Kinzie is a nice alternative for women or guys that like to play as a female character. You can choose with whom you want to play and if you want to play as the other then you can switch as many times as you want. You can also play the game with a friend and then the other player will take control of the other character. Because you play as a different character you can´t change the outfit, so the customization doesn´t exist in this dlc and that means you´ll have to get used to the way you look. It´s a shame but definitely understandable.
Do you still have super powers?
Kind of, it´s not the same as in the simulation because this take place in hell and not in the simulation. So you don´t have your powers, but then thanks to a magical artifact you gan learn powers and even gain the ability to fly with angel wings. This allows you to move a lot faster through the city and allows you to do some crazy stunts, it does take a moment to get used to the controls but once you master that (it also helps to unlock certain things for flying to make it easier) then it´s a lot of fun to do! You also gain new powers that are based on the ones from Saints Row IV, but they´re a bit different. In hell you can do a lot of different activities but it´s not as big as it´s in Saints Row IV, no surprise because this is dlc and not a full game. But you can get a 1000 gamerscore in this dlc, so it might be worth checking out if you´re an achievement hunter!
Is this dlc worth checking out?
I think it is, because it´s fun and offers you the unique chance to play as another character than your own in the Saints Row world. This dlc isn´t as big as Saints Row IV but it should keep you busy for quite some time if you want to get all of the achievements/trophies. The story is crazy humour, as you´re probably used to with Saints Row games, mixed with some over the top drama (something you shouldn´t take serious either). So if you always wanted to save your crazy boss, raise a little hell in hell and shoot the devil in the face then this dlc might be something for you!
